Hello everyone, I am so happy to have found this site. I have had large breast for a long time and after having my daughter almost 9 months ago, they have not gone done in size! I am now a 40H and so uncomfortable (back issues, rashes ect). I scheduled a consultation for Oct. 2nd with Dr . Busby And am hoping to get my insurance bcbs to cover the surgery! I may add I am 5'3 and 200lbs since its so hard to exercise and I hate shopping since its near impossible to find clothing that fits right. I'm excited to see what's to come but really scared!! I have never been put to sleep but have had a c-section I was awake though. My worst fear is not waking up :( I can handle pain but the thought of being put to sleep scares me so much also know they are cutting through my boobs doesn't settle to well. Lol any advise is much appreciated and thank you all for sharing your stories.

How did you like Dr B ? Went on for a consultation he seemed very nice. I haven't gone thru with surgery still contemplating, more nervous than anything but I was glad to see someone with the same doctor. It's been a while for you how are your results and how do you feel?

I had my reduction last Wednesday, so 4 days ago. Both Busby, his staff, and the hospital nurses were great. One piece of advice...don't let them put you in short stay. You want a real room.

Hahah I know, im so happy I found this site.:) why do you have to wait so long?:/
October 1, 2013
Hey again :) I work in the retail and the autumn and specially the christmas time is usually very stressful, physically demanding and on top of that we do have a ban on holidays / vac. till the middle of January :( so I am getting holiday after this stressful time and it will be good for me to relax after all that. ( I embrace that I will have to go through some pain before relaxing ;)

I waited, it seemed so long. Now mine are small. I am so glad.

Hi Pamela! The waking up thing scares me too! One tip I would have is write down questions for your consult. Since I've been on this site, I've realized so many other things I should be asking!

That's a great idea, thanks!:)

My experience on waking up was a good one.....going to sleep was also so unexpectedly fast....the people in the OR were wonderful ...it seems I fell asleep and like the snap of a finger I was being gently wakened by one of the Recovery nurses....you will be all bandaged up and seem like there is nothing on your chest....and then it just takes time, and patience....It is all worth it!!! I have never felt better in all my life.

One comment I would like to add.....because I am 1 year post surgery, now that I have found this site and now know someone else who had BR....I would have asked so man y more questions....I also would have been more assertive maybe especially when the fluid in my breasts seemed ALOT....I did call the doctors office and was told it was normal....when I went for my consult 4 days later, the doctor (unfortunately not my surgeon as he was with his wife who had just delivered a baby) told me there was an excessive amount of swelling....I am wondering now if it had been drained, if I would have a better shaped breast than I now have....Having said all that, regardless of the shape, I am superhappy with how I feel....no pain..and I look better (with bra on that is)....but ask questions....I was so glad to get it done, I didnt care about questions....just get them off....well, I got that, and maybe if I had told the doctor to make sure of this, or make sure of that, or what will this be like? It would have been good......my friend who had it done asked alot and was much better informed.....anyhow, do it....relax and be patient, and don't do things like going out trying on bras the first week like I did.....this may be half the reason I retained the fluid, even walking in the mall swinging arms was not good...all this I did....so rest after your surgery, don't push it...that's my advice

Thanks! I'm sorry that happened to you, I'm about at that point also of "just get them off" lol. I have a 9 month old baby, so it shall be interesting coming home to rest. I have family to help thankfully. Did you scars fade a lot for you?
October 2, 2013
Hi Pamelarose, yes, my scars faded quite nicely...after all the bandages and tapes were off and I started to itch because of the healing, I took epsom salts baths and used 100% natural Vitamin E.....I forget when it was I started the baths...but it was long enough to know I was healing, and had no open spots etc....it was the "itchy" stage I am thinking. Having a 9 month old baby will be quite challenging for you...please accept all the help you can get....lifting the baby would not be good....if you are going to hold her, make sure you are sitting or lying down with her rather than lifting....it will be worth it in the long run for you to ready "overprotect" yourself to prevent problems later on....the quicker you heal, the better it will be for you and your baby....

My PS has a scar cream I can get from her office...I assume its a higher grade than available over the counter. Check with your PS. They probably have something to recommend.
