I have been wanting a chin replacement ever since...
I have been wanting a chin replacement ever since I was a young girl. I always knew my chin was weak but never dreamed of actually going thru with the surgery. As I got older, I realized it was getting worse and now I had jowls and a very loose neck. I had 4 consultations and each doctor told me I needed a neck lift and/or SMAS Lower Face Lift. They did not agree I needed a chin implant.
I read about Dr. Mao and read all of his reviews. I decided to have one more consultation. Upon meeting Dr. Mao, I was very pleased with my consult. He was extremely kind, gentle and very honest. He also told me I needed a Neck Lift/SMAS and thought a chin was needed and it would help balance my facial features. We did some digital images of my chin to see how large I wanted to go as well as photos before/after a neck lift/SMAS. I was happy to see the results and felt more confident than ever. I am 54 years old and finally made the decision to go thru with it all. I was nervous and scared. My hope was to not drastically change anything but only improve upon my features and balance.
I read most of the reviews on here and it appeared some people had these procedures and were up and about in two weeks. For me, two weeks was still not enough time to return to work. The swelling actually was pretty dominant for 3 weeks. I did not have more than 10 days of vacation so it was difficult returning to work in less than 2 weeks. I suggest taking at least 2 weeks and if not more. I did not look like myself and the swelling was severe. I did have three procedures and most likely more than most having just one procedure. I am 5 weeks post surgery and finally feeling myself and looking like me again only better!
I am thrilled with my chin! It looks great and nobody has noticed anything! I had a few people tell me I look like I lost weight but that is probably due to my face being pulled back and it appears thinner. I have had several people tell me I look great but nobody has asked me if I had work done. That was the result I was looking for!
