Can someone please tell me if my was was injected unneven? It looks to me like my left lip is larger. I was injected into my lips for the first time in my life. One full strings of Juvederm Plus. Is this bruising and uneven bumps forming normally? I've had Botox before and it never bruised in this degree.

I just had my follow up appointment yesterday and i noticed the same on my lips. Mine look like yours a lot but i noticed i have one side of my upper lip more swollen than the other half. He said it was swelling and that it should go down in a couple of more days. He also injected some of my leftover juvedern on areas he felt were missing spots. R u planning on going to see your injector for your follow -up soon?

Because you're still obviously bruised and because the lips are very vascular, the unevenness you are seeing could very easily be caused by swelling from the injections. I would advise you to wait at least two weeks to see the final result. I have noticed however, on myself, (I am fair and blonde like you are - thin lip skin) that product tends to pool under my top lips in a way that makes them look a bit overfilled and bulbous. This appears on me visually, as almost like a soft rolling hill that dips farther down against my upper teeth than the other side does- espcially when I smile. In order to avoid this outcome, I stopped injecting into the lower "meat"/ body portion of my top lips and focused more of the product higher up/ toward the outside vermillion border. Your lips when healed, should be of a 1/3:2/3 (top lip to bottom lip) proportion ratio to look their most natural. If you still hate your lips after they have healed, don't panic. Because lips are almost constantly in motion, through talking/ eating etc... the filler will reabsorb into your body much faster than other areas.
Good luck, I hope you heal well :)

I always leave looking a bit lop sided. My lips take more like 3 to 4 weeks to fully heal. Don't freak out just yet. You can have them evened out or have the product dissolved if you are unhappy with the results.

Although your advice is totally sound, I would advice against dissolving a filler that will probably fade dramatically within 6-8 months... When you inject hyaluronidase into your body, it doesn't just dissolve the product, it actually damages your own tissues as well. Doctors often act like it's a simple procedure to dissolve filler, but it isn't. You could end up with completely uneven lips in addition to suffering residual damage to your own tissues. I'm not trying to scare you, just trying to provide real facts. This is a for-profit based business, and the side effects are often always minimized.

I personally would never dissolve juvederm, but it is an option. I feel the effects last roughly 4 months for me. I'm back for more filler every 3-4 months. Contemplating lip augmentation/implants.

I would also like to advise that you should be going to a qualified injector, who has had lots of product experience. Although Juvederm is a great product for the lips, Juvederm Plus has a higher rate of complication in the lips, specifically, lumps/ bumps/ product clumping/ and overall unevenness. In the future, I would opt for either regular Juvederm or Restylane when injecting into the lips. Best of luck.

Hi Rhiannon, thanks for your posting. It looks like you got some good responses from our community. I do notice some bruising - what was the procedure like? Did it go smoothly or was it painful?
