Hernia Repair AND Tummy Tuck - Orange County, CA

Still doing great! Now working on getting my muscle strength back. Because of the 2 surgeries in 6 months and the long recuperating time due to the 8 inch hernia repair, I have been fairly inactive. Also because of the tummy tuck I have muscles that need to be retrained. I am no complaining by any means. I just have to go slow and be careful while I increase my activity level. I am currently doing gentle yoga. I am still extremely pleased with the results of my tummy tuck and would do it again with Dr. Esmalian if I had to choose again!

I found Dr. Esmalian on this website/blog after googling "hernia repair and tummy tuck". I was impressed that he was Board Certfied in both plastic surgery and general surgery. He was also very close to where I live. He explained the procedure and how he could repair the hernia without mesh, which was very important to me. He also provided options for extra pain control, also very important to me. His support staf, especially Sam, was very responsive to my needs and really listened and responded. And above all, the procedure was a successful, I healed without complication AND I have a "banging body". I only gave 4 stars on the wait times because he is a busy and popular doctor, which is a good thing!! I didn't mind the wait as the office is very beautiful as well. :) So if you are out there with or without a hernia I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Esmalian. He and his staff really listened to my needs and I had a great experience and best of all a body that makes me feel like a different person.

I had a gastric bypass 8 years ago with a 155 pound weight loss. Last year I had to have an (unrelated) open bowel surgery that caused what we all thought was a small inscisional hernia. I decided to get a "two-fer" (hernia repair AND tummy tuck) at the same time. So I selected Dr.Esmalian because he was not only a Board Certified plastic surgeon but a Board Certified general surgeon as well. Boy was I glad I did!! Turned out my "small hernia" was actually 8 inches long and hidden underneath the bowel incision! Not ot worry though, as Dr. E repaired it (without MESH!!!) and did a BEAUTIFUL tummy tuck to boot! I LOVE MY TUMMY NOW!! And that is a minor miracle if you could see what it looked like before he fixed it! Also he and his surgical staff were GREAT with pain control. I had very little.

Welcome to the community. I am so glad to hear all went well and that you are loving your results.  When did you have the tummy tuck?

Thank you. I had the hernia repair/tummy tuck on 9/20/12. My recovery time was slow but steady, mostly due to the hernia. It was 8 inches long!! It was directly under my prior abdomenal incisions from prior open bowel obstruction repairs. Nobody could tell it was that long until they got in there. THANK GOODNESS I had chosen a doctor who was BOTH a general surgeon and plastic surgeon. Dr. Fahrbod Esmalian in Los Alamitos. Otherwise I don't know what would have happened. I feel very lucky and very feminine looking. :)

Oh my goodness...

Do you have any before and after pics you can share?
