Expected a Rough Recovery but Pleasantly Surprised at No Pain, Very Little Bruising

I had rhinoplasty surgery on Feb. 22 performed by Dr. Oakley Smith. I am 40 years old and have disliked my nose for a very very long time. How do you find a good surgeon? Well, i looked on the computer and looked. I went to 2 other consultations. I kept looking.

One surgeon, with my photo on the computer in front of us, simple just turned up my nose and said.,. see this is what well do. I looked like a pig. I am Italian. We do not have turned up noses. Needless to say, i kept searching.

I went to Mississauga and saw a well known cosmetic surgeon there. Rude. He may be good, I dont know. But I won't put myself in his hands. And then I met Dr. Oakley Smith and his assistant Bina. Kind and professional. And what can I say, a 40 year mom of 2, I have had enough life experiences to trust my instinct. And i booked immediately with Dr. Oakley Smith. I waited until he could do my surgery.

To complicate things, I also had breast augmentation done at the same time. He referred me to a surgeon who performs at the same hospital Dr. Beber. Just as nice and kind. In my searches, all good signs pointed to these surgeons. Not just their demeaner, but on reviews written by others. Most importantly, my feelings upon meeting these two gentlemen, I felt relief that I have finally found 2 surgeons, who I trusted completely would do the best that THEY can do for ME. I was prepared for war!

I researched (probably too much) and was ready for 24 hours of constant changing of dressings under my nose. I didn't bleed. Maybe a little discharge. I bought 2 packs of gauze and changed it maybe a few times. I also had ZERO pain! I was totally shocked by this. How can I not have NO pain? Aren't the bones broken? I had very little bruising. Yes my face swelled. I have read and read and read about all the things you can do to avoid / limit bruising and the one thing remained constant. Your surgeon and how he performs the surgery. I am so glad my search ended with Dr. Oakley Smith and his sweet assistant Bina! Sincerest regards, Lidia :))

Feb. 28 - Took off my cast today. I was expected to not like what I saw. I was expecting my nose to be a swollen pig nose, lol. It was not. Honestly, if it werent for the two little bruises on either side of my nose, you wouldn't even notice i had this surgery. It looks good. I am happy. And I am well aware that this is not how my nose will look. I am excited to see the transformation in my nose as the weeks pass and the swelling goes down. I have always had faith in Dr. Smith's abilities and I will not look and examine my nose at this point. That would just be silly. It already looks good and this is not even the end result !! :)) I had such a good experience with this surgery. I do not have a high pain tolerance either. But, every case is different. For me... I had zero pain, very little bruising. Swollen yes. went away quickly. I took two weeks off work because I didnt know what to expect. I could very well go back to work Monday if I wanted to. But its the breast augmentation I did that hurts! I didnt spend much time on the computer during my recovery, nor did I take pictures every day. I focused on resting and eating well.
