I waited until I was 48 to have the procedure. I wish I would have done it sooner. I have always been self-conscious because of my ears and am so happy now to be able to wear hair styles I have never been able to wear. The procedure went pretty well. I had just local anesthesia. The only problem I had was nausea caused by the pain meds and the head wrap was a little uncomfortable the first night. I sleep on my side so I had some problems with sleeping for a couple of weeks just trying to not lay on my ears.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't think otoplasty feels like an option for everyone, especially when you've grown up dealing with it in your own way, but I'm glad you're happy with your results now. :) Please share some photos too, if you feel comfortable. It's really helpful for others who are considering surgery.
