I decided to get an otoplasty as I had protruding...
I decided to get an otoplasty as I had protruding ears and have always been self conscious about it. I looked at several places in Omaha, NE and ended up going to Aesthetic Surgical Images to get a consultation. Going in to the consultation I had no idea what to expect as far as what the procedure would entail.
I met with Dr. Richard Bruneteau and he explained what the procedure as well as the post op phase. Dr. Bruneteau was very engaging and easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. The atmosphere of the whole practice in general was very relaxing and accommodating.
I set up the procedure about 3 to 4 weeks after the consultation. As far as the surgery itself, I was under local anesthesia so I was awake during the entire process. Basically, Dr. Bruneteau made incisions behind both ears and put in sutures and then closed the ear back up. During the procedure, Dr. Bruneteau even showed me what my ear looked like using a mirror to make sure it looked how I wanted it to look. The procedure only took about 30-40 minutes and I was able to drive myself home afterward. After the anesthesia wore off later that day there was a little bit of soreness, but it was very minimal and there was never any pain. Overall, I felt pretty much normal.
I wore a head wrap for the next two days and slept on my back so as to not upset or irritate my ears. Wearing the head dressing was probably the most uncomfortable part of the whole process, but it wasn’t too bad. After a couple days I went back to visit the doctor and had it removed. For the next several weeks I wore a head band at night so I wouldn’t fold my ear improperly while I was sleeping. It has been a little over 4 months since my procedure and it has turned out wonderful.
Overall, the entire process was far less invasive than I originally thought. I had been thinking about having this surgery for years but kept putting it off, mostly because I didn’t know anything about it. I am so happy that I decided to go to Aesthetic Surgical Images for a consultation and have Dr. Bruneteau perform the procedure on me. It has really helped my self esteem a great deal. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about such a procedure to at the very least go in and get a consultation. Looking back I wish I would have had this procedure done years ago.

Dr. Richard Bruneteau, Aesthetic Surgical Images -- Dr Bruneteau is very nice and easy to talk to. He took the time to ask me questions about myself to get to know me better and right away I could tell that he really cares about his patients and their care. He was very thorough in his explanation of the process and answered any questions I had. I thought he was absolutely terrific.
