I'm 54 years old, mother of four, grandmother of three, dog owner and husband of one. I'm 48 hours post Kybella injections and . . . yikes. I look ridiculous. Thick neck and bruising I can't cover with makeup. Like a linebacker who's been strangled. Today I had a good cleansing cry. I never expected the injections to cause me such intense pain. I've had botox before and that really was a "walk in the park" compared to Kybella. I started to swell up almost immediately. I took a couple extra strength tylenol and that did help me get through the afternoon. Thank goodness it's winter time - a large scarf is the only thing allowing me to leave the house.

Yikes I am sorry you are experiencing so much swelling and bruising. Have you considered arnica tablets and/or arnica gel or lotion? It has done wonders for me and is pretty inexpensive. You can find it at vitamin shops and such.

I hope things are better a few days out. I've been going through a tough time after ThermiTIght. I hope things do improve for you.

If you don't mind, may I encourage you to please keep sharing your experience? I'm considering the procedure and these reviews are really helpful. Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

One week post Kybella. No longer a line backer - now just look like I swallowed an orange. ???? Still tender. Bruising resolved. Grateful Christmas is still two weeks away. And yep I brought this all on myself.

Not sure you want to hear it, some you seem to be having a harder experience than I am, but it does go down!!!! It can be overwhelming at first but eventually after 7-10 days it subsides and goes back to normal with hopefully some results following that. :) I just had my second set on Monday and it was a lot easier. The swelling is already starting to go down. Hang in there.

It's scary at first! But stay positive. I was back to baseline after about 10-11 days. I take a photo in the same spot and same position every night to compare and by 30 days there was definitely improvement from pre kybella profile. It was minimal, but after reading reviews and lots of consult with my Dr, I expected minimal to little result on the first round. Just try to stay positive and keep your expectations realistic. :-) second round (if you plan to go thru a second) should be a little easier and show more result from what I hear. But every one is different and everyone's body heals/reacts differently. Good luck and I can't wait to hear your thoughts after all the swelling subsides!

Hang in there it will get better I am going through my second round and I am swelled up too! I know the feeling but the more self conscious you are the more people will notice

Thank you, I appreciate your advice and offer. I would love to see your after photos of your second round! Baseline sounds really good to me right now. :-)

Curious how this turned out! It's such a new treatment - did it make a difference? Thank you for sharing!
I'm sorry to hear that the swelling and pain have been more intense than you expected. If you haven't already, check out this forum post about hiding the swelling:

Do you anticipate needing more rounds of injections? Hopefully the next round isn't as painful. Keep us posted.
