I am 25 and have really struggled my whole life with acne. I have tried everything. Recently my face has started to clear on its' own minus the few occasional breakouts. My back is really bad though. I am really worried about my face and starting this Accutane. I will be on 40mg/once a day for 6 months. My sister just started it as well. I am really worried about the initial breakout! I am supposed to go for my appointment to start the medication on Dec. 7th. I am ready to just get the next few months over with. Really scared and anxious at the same time! I am also a picker so I am going to have to learn not to do that. I already have scarring. This is one of the first times I have ever taken a picture without makeup!

Good luck! I'm 30 and had also struggled with acne for my whole life. Once I got into my 20's, it started down onto my neck, chest, and back as well. I'm just finishing my 6 month treatment course today, and my skin is completely clear and has never looked more beautiful! I had no initial breakout, though I know some people do. So you may not! I was also a TERRIBLE picker/squeezer. But I was so terrified of permanent scarring that I quit cold turkey the day I started Accutane. You will notice a completely different texture in your skin. Picking and squeezing will seem way more painful and "dangerous", as the skin feels kind of fragile. Hard to explain. 6 months later, I don't have the habit anymore, so that was a good thing! Good luck!

Thank you so much! That makes me feel so much better! I hope I will be as lucky as you are but I am not holding my breath! I will definitely not pick! Thank you for that information. Congratulations on your beautiful skin! I will be done in May hopefully! I start Monday

Yes, no picking! :) You won't really even want to when your skin texture changes. It's kind of bizarre at first! Check out my photos and post for more info if you want. My side effects were very minimal, and when I started, I was really scared of all the horror stories. Now I wish I would have done this years ago. Stick with it, it's worth it in the end! If you have any questions, let me know!

Day 4
babyBriBriDecember 8, 2015
I am on day 4. Not noticing anything yet. I am waiting for my initial breakout. I am drinking 11/2 gallons of water a day and am taking 40mg of Accutane with Fish oil, Vitamin E and a steroid that my dermatologist prescribed me.

I live in Oklahoma City too. Who is the dermatologist that prescribed accutane to you? I'd like to start it:)

Also, did your insurance cover some of the cost of your prescription? If so, how much? What insurance do you use? I don't mean to be nosey. I've heard of people paying over a thousand dollars for their prescription!

I know you've asked Bri but I'm in Moore and my derm is Dr Lam at Lam Dermatology. BCBS covers it. If you go thru RX pharmacy thru Dr Lam's office, it's $10 sent to you via FedEx; $15 at Walmart pharmacy.

acne is easier to be healed than scarring...never injected your face with permanent filler to clear the scar..its better using peeling or CO2 fractional laser...i really regret had permanent filler

Almost a full month in!

Ok it has been a while and I am sorry! I am starting to notice I am breaking iut just a little bit more. As long as I don't pick they go away in a few days! I am doing great at not picking by the way!!! Yay me! My arms are really breaking out! My back and chest are looking good with no new active ones. And for my sweet little face.......ok so I have had a few under the skin but they go away in like 5 days. I am starting to feel more bumps on my cheeks. I don't think that is a good thing. I am sure they will all come to the surface. I have not had any crazy symptoms but I try to drink a gallon and a half of water a day and due to the holidays this past week I did not reach that goal daily and I am paying for it! My lips are so so so dry I literally peeled the top layer off! They have gotten better today with the proper hydration and lots of chapstick.
