I have had extremely large breast every since I was in elementary. I am currently at a 38F and very uncomfortable with the size of my breast, as well as experiencing severe back, neck and shoulder pain. I was rejected for a breast reduction in 2003. I decided to go to a different surgeon and try again. This time my insurance approved it, and I am really excited to be having my surgery on March 2 at 1pm. I love reading the experiences on this site, they really help to calm my nerves. Two of my sisters have had this surgery as well. I guess you can say big breast is an inheritance in our family. I look forward to keeping you posted on my experience.

So I am getting closer to my sugery date. I received my paperwork from the hospital and that made me nervous. I set my quit smoking date for this Sarurday. That will be a challenge! I purchased nice pajamas and lounge wear that button up. I even bought some fun DVDs. I am getting really excited. I cant wait to toss the big bras.

I have my pre-op tomorrow! Feb 27th surgery. I also shopped for some button up jammies. It is exciting isn't it? By the way my name is Sherry too. Spelled the same way. Don't see that often.

Thanks Iowa!!! I will be posting regarding my surgery and I will also throw in a blurb or so about my smoke-free adventure as well.

Sherry, I did the same as you. I had to give up smoking (and that included not using the nicotine things too, aggghhhh) for 4 weeks before surgery.

It was soo difficult I thought I was going mad. The week or so before the surgery is so stressful that I was crying at the slightest thing and not sleeping too well either.
I'm not saying this to scare you, just to reassure you that you are not going mad, it is possible, and now 8 months later I am still smoke free, have smaller boobs and am a great deal happier.

Dont be swayed honey, you will love the new you.

Thank you Aitchcov!!! That is so awesome to hear that you have stayed committed to not smoking. I know that it will be challenging but it is for the best, that's where my focus will need to be. I am looking forward to the new me.

Well one week away and I want to smoke so bad. Has anyone out there continued to smoke prior to surgery? I am going to just fight it!!! Anyhow, I am very excited, and cant wait to see my new boobs. I think I am going to have a bonfire with the old bras. I have not purchased any sport bras. My PS told me to hold off until He did the surgery and could better fit me. I cannot wait to get some sports bras. I could never fit into them before. I will post before and after pics after my drains are removed on 3/5.

Hey Sherry.  When I was quitting smoking there were times when I thought I'd never get through it.  But I would convince myself to get through "THIS" craving and even though sometimes it was actually physically painful, I would just tell myself that I never wanted to feel like this again and if I started smoking again I would just have to try to quit at another time and I would feel this anxiety and pain all over again, but if I stuck it out I would never have to do it again.  It took about a month to where I didn't think about it all of the time, but after that it got much easier.  I know you can do it!  And this surgery is the perfect reason to, smoking impairs your circulation which will slow down your healing, and smokers tend to scar more than non-smokers.

Good luck!  I'll include you in my prayers tonight!

Thank you Iowa. I feel much better after reading your post. I know that if I have one cigarette I am going to totally regret my decision. I am going to get through this. Thanks.
