Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

FIVE STARS!! So, because I am a fairly new yelp user I am learning that my clients who leave me positive reviews and are also fairly new don't leave me less than 4 stars do not get their review "recommended". I sorta hate yelp for this reason. They believe that a 5 star review must be fake. Or a new user must be leaving fake reviews. For that reason I selected 4 stars here although if I though a 5 star would be 'acceptable' to Yelp standards I would mark 5. But that is a rant in and of itself. Wish I could RATE Yelp! LOL

Anyway, this is going to be sort of lengthy but here goes.

I have had 3 C sections and had a tummy tuck between my second and third child. I have several friends who have used Dr Barnett for their body work procedures including the extended TT which I wanted so I chose him.

When he did my initial surgery he found that my previous abdominal tightening inside was still in tact and therefore did not re-tie those muscles and did not remove my belly button and the skin below it. He opted instead due to what he perceived as good elasticity to only tighten below my belly button and and then did the extended scar around the sides to give it a smooth transition all around. I also had him do a n inner thigh lift and lipo of the upper arm because my arms are always larger on top than at the elbow no matter how thin I am and I have always hated it. He did the arm lipo for free because I was paying for the other procedures ( a multiple procedure discount ) and he also revised scars around my areola from a breast lift I had years prior that had left really ugly scars- he did this free of charge as well.

So, final result of that surgery was great in some ways not so great in others. The not so good...My inner thighs still remained loose near the upper part of my knee and when I bent over or sat down I still had skin that folded and rolled on my upper abdomen. The good...My areola scar revision was perfect, you can hardly tell I ever had that surgery... my arms look fabulous... My waist, front to back; side to side was contoured like I had never seen before. I have always been someone who “didn't really have a butt” and “didnt really have a waist” When I am thin, I look like a gymnast, very straight and small and stocky; when I am heavy I look very thick waisted and stocky. All of a sudden, I am not that person anymore. My body had curves. I had something that looked like a butt and something that looked like curvy hips and a waist that contoured in- no matter what I weighed! That was like- MIRACULOUS! And honestly because I was enjoying my new shape so much I had a hard time wanting to go under the knife again for the sagging and rolling. He had said ( and most doctors should tell you this ) that they always have to go in a second time and touch up lipo. They have to hit high spots again and sometimes fill in low spots a little. To understand why you need to look up and see how its done.

SO, I reluctantly made my revision appointment, after all... all he could say was no right? I was so nervous because I had actually read a few negative reviews about him. I thought, okay, he is 22 years in practice- some negative reviews are normal right? so.... I moved forward.

I contacted Alisa a few times and voiced how nervous I was. She was so reassuring and she told me she looked over our pre-op notes and told me that most of the things I was concerned about were addressed in all of those steps and that she was pretty sure from what I was telling her that it would be a revision and free of charge. She helped keep me calm- I was literally afraid of being insulted by Dr Barnett because some of the reviews I read eluded to that. I found her as an advocate and a professional to be a perfect fit for her job.

Well, to my suprise he not only agreed that I needed touch up. He wanted it to look better and was actually glad to do it. Did I go in there all pissed and demanding? Of course not. I went in just ready to voice my concerns and he opened my robe and started pinching looking and poking and was like okay, here is what we need to do....

I tried to talk him out of it... because he wanted to do just hip lipo touch up first and then go in and possibly tighten my skin more. I tried to talk him into just tightening because A) lipo freaking HURTS
and B) I really just thought if it didn't roll when I sit down I would be happy

But he assured me that it wouldn't look right if he didn't touch up his lipo first and then do the tightening in a second revision procedure. The reason for the second procedure is because of blood supply being cut off for so long after my having 5 abdominal procedures already. It could impair healing. I can assure you its easier and cheaper for him to just tighten me. And easier and cheaper for him if he wanted to do both at the same time, but he chose to do them separately and he didn't ask me for one penny.

He took plenty of time speaking to me. He had to run out for about 10 minutes but he came back to talk to me some more. I know he was in a hurry because I had heard that he was taking an emergency patient in the OR who had some adhesions that were binding around her nerves and causing her severe pain. And he still made sure that I was well informed and happy with the plan.

I am not saying this about anyone in particular because I know things happen; but if you have unrealistic expectations of what your body can look like you will never be happy. If you have unrealistic expectations about any persons behavior you will never be happy. Allow people to HAVE their own individual personalities and idiosyncrasies; as well all have and don't expect to be besties with your surgeon and his entire staff. If you dont like them or the way they look and you cant get over it then I guess move on and hopefully you will find one you LOVE, but to criticize ones you dont love for doing something wrong when its not wrong or right... it just bugged you or gave you a negative vibe is so wrong of you.
And don't expect 55 year old skin to look 18. Expect it to look 30. Get it? Its plastic surgery. Not magic. Anyway I just had to share so that others don't have a panic attack like I did by reading negative reviews and all the positives being about boob jobs. I had body work... a lot of it. My friends didn't need revisions by the way. I am the only special one :)

I wrote this review for people and for Dr Barnett... for doing my revisions for free. ( its been 2 years by the way- he could've sent me packing, but he was honest about his work and he knew that just because it was 2 years instead of one that I still needed a touch up and I really appreciated that he didn't use that as an excuse to not fix it because I simply could not have done it at one year my husband was having a medical emergency and winter is our slow time so I had to wait it out and pray he would still do it... and he did )
