I must say I had the worst experience of my life at this doctors office. I did my first consultation with Dr. Obeng in early 2015. I decided in December 2016 that I was ready to proceed. I was quoted a price and given a date for my surgery by Shannon. A couple of weeks before the surgery date Shannon called to cancel saying the Dr. had surgeries to do overseas and wouldn't be back until 6 days after my original date so we re-scheduled for the day after he returned. I was told to get my blood work done and have the results sent to the office which I did. My surgery date was on a Tuesday Shannon had not given my lab results to the anesthesiologist until the Friday before my surgery. He saw my labs and refused to do the surgery until I got my levels higher being that I have anemia. This is understandable but if Shannon would have had my labs reviewed earlier than she did like when she got them in December I would have had enough time to take my vitamins and increase my levels before the second surgery date. On top of having my surgery postponed for a second time Shannon had already charged my insurance for the surgery for the original surgery date. I got my first bill and hadn't even gotten the surgery. On top of that I was told that I needed to buy a tummy tuck board and compression garment for after my procedure, I gave Shannon my credit card info and authorized her to make the purchase because they had a specific garment they preferred. I just happen to check my account one day and noticed that I was charged twice at two different times one on the 4th and then again on the 19th and didn't have either orders. I had to call Shannon and ask why there was an unauthorized purchase on my card and had her reverse it immediately. Even though all this happen I still wanted to go through with the surgery because I had done a lot of research on this doctor so I set a third date. I took my vitamins and got blood work drawn again. The levels increased but not to the satisfaction of the anesthesiologist so he once again refused to do my surgery unless I got a clearance from my PCP so I did that. The Monday before my surgery I called Shannon to see if all was a go for my surgery with the clearance from my PCP and she stated everything was a go, this was around 11am. I was so excited I was finally about to get the procedure done that I had been waiting to do for 10 years after losing 135lbs and keeping it off. Shannon called me at 4:45pm the day before my surgery to let me know she was wrong the anesthesiologist still would not consent to doing my surgery. Why would she tell me at 11am that everything was all good. I tried to speak directly with Dr. Obeng about this matter but he never returned my calls. I am so disappointed with this office. I can't even comment on his work because the staff services were so poor that I am now looking for a new doctor. I don't know he might do good work I just never got a chance to find out.
