Obalon Intragastric Balloon Diary...

I had the first Obalon Balloon placed yesterday, July 9th. The day before insertion I had to take one anti-nausea med and one antacid med. I had to stop eating and drinking at midnight and the next day, only minimal water with the medications. At 11:30am I was scheduled for the procedure. Before the procedure I asked to go the bathroom. Then, they asked me to pee in a cup for a pregnancy test. lol I was so dehydrated that I had nothing left to pee. Wish they had told me that when I asked to go to the bathroom. So ladies, hold it until they give you a cup. I just had no idea they would ask for that. :P The Balloon Insertion was an easy process. You literally just swallow a large capsule. I just pretended it was a large piece of food. It's a little scratchy going down but not too bad. I recommend watching some youtube video's. Seeing how it was done, relaxed me. After the procedure I did feel a little nauseous. It was a strange sensation because I didn't feel sick, just nauseous. I took some more of the anti-nausea med and it went away. I went shopping afterward but I did feel queezy the whole time. The first day was rough with just clear liquid as I didn't drink coffee, so I had a massive headache. Sleeping the first night was uncomfortable because I could feel it when I moved around. I would recommend taking the day off work for the first day. The second day is today. I woke up around 6am and had a cup of coffee. HEAVEN! lol I took the antacid. I currently feel a little queezy but I'm trying to push through without the anti-nausea med as that makes me tired and I have work today. Today I can eat pureed foods and have my first appointment with the online nutritionist. I had this done at Beja Body in Orlando. I will review the provider completely after the full 6 months. So far Beja Body has been good. I chose them as they were the first to get me an appointment. Other places were months out and didn't always pick up the phone. Jessica and Brittany at Beja Body have so far made the experience great and are the reason I picked Beja Body. They are excellent staff that get back to you right away. I appreciate that a lot with this process.

It is still uncomfortable when I first wake up. But I drink a lot of water..then coffee...then a Cambridge Shake. I've decided to stay on Protein Shakes for now. I will post when I decide to eat more solids. Its nice to see 5 lbs down...I'm definitely working as hard as I can with the program as I have an $8,000.00 incentive!

3rd Balloon placement

So I have lost a total of 10 lbs. Not exciting. I am hoping that the 3rd balloon will help. The Obalon company has you go through a Virtual Health program that has recipes and a once a month phone call. So today they sent me an email reminder that I missed my phone call...which I haven’t gotten around to. But honestly it’s 30 minutes of hearing what we already know about diet. I have a Fitbit and work out and at this point I definitely attribute the exercise to the weight loss. The balloons haven’t really done anything. I am sincerely hoping that this 3rd balloon will make the difference. Because really, if the 30 minute phone call is the key to my success and the reason this is failing...I would have simply paid for a 30 min phone call and not this whole discomfort of balloons.
