J-Plasma Skin Resurfacing is the New Gold Standard for Rejuvenation. No more CO2 laser for me!

I have waited 6 months to write the review of my J-Plasma skin resurfacing as I wanted to see ongoing results and I have good news to report. I am 64 years old and CO2 laser skin resurfacing was my “go-to” choice for keeping my skin looking tight, smooth and bright (I have had 3 in the past 10 years). My doctor at Omni Aesthetics, Dr. Song, is a long-time PRP enthusiast and with each of my previous C02’s I received PRP topically to help with healing and collagen building (trust me – it is worth the extra cost). I have always kept up with skincare and at my age I did not have any deep wrinkles.
I received lidocaine injections with PRP before the treatment and only had one “pass” as I do not have deep wrinkles which I believe warrants the double pass. After the 45-minute treatment I also had PRP applied topically. J-Plasma is totally ablative. Unlike my CO2, which gave me more of a sunburn type peeling with a downtime of about 7 days (down time meaning I didn’t want to go out covered with Aquaphor or peeling) with J-Plasma you will look horrendous for the first 4-6 days. I was not in pain but swollen (due to the lidocaine and treatment around my eyes) and had crusty brown and yellowy patches on my face. However, I went food shopping on Day 11 – so a bit more downtime for me than the CO2, however, the J-Plasma is a more aggressive treatment. I had the expected “pinkness” for a little more than a month which is less than what some patients have reported and that may be because I had previous CO2s. I simply used Eucerin for Redness (it has a green tint) as my moisturizer. You can see my 14-day result video on Real Self by searching J-Plasma Facial Skin Resurfacing by Hung William Song. The immediate jowl tightening was so apparent as was the tightening around my eyes (note my “crow’s feet” itched for about 2-3 weeks) and I still look the same. I would get Botox around my crow’s feet every 5-6 months and had it last in September 2017 and still don't need it. My pores are also as tight as they were after the J-Plasma and my between-the-eye’s “crease” is so, so, SO much better. And I truly believe my skin is continuing to improve in smoothness and radiance.
In summary if you can afford J-Plasma over a CO2 treatment go for it! Admittedly at first, I was a tad reluctant to move away from my CO2s as Dr. Song advised that J-Plasma was more aggressive and the Bovie Medical site featured deeply wrinkled individuals. However, having been a client of Omni for 10 years I had complete trust in Dr. Song. And I am extremely happy with the continuing results.
P.S. Real Self needs to add J-Plasma as a treatment selection!!

Do you have before and after pictures? I’m interested in the tightening part of it since there only 2 days of down time so I have read.

You can see my 2 week progress on Dr. Song"s video which is posted on RealSelf under J-Plasma Facial Skin Resurfacing by H. William Song. Note I had 12 days of downtime -not 2 - and I believe that is due to the fact I only had one pass while some patients require two passes for deep wrinkles.. Everyone will be different. Hope this helps.

I’m on day11 of my journey with J Plama. It’s difficult for me because I usually hike four days a week, play volleyball three days a week, and have my grandchildren at least a couple days a week. It’s not that I’m in any pain, it’s just I look bad, at least my neck still does. I would say my doctor did a “medium” J plasma over my face, and more extensive on my neck. My face is now manageable as I could put make up on and go outside, but my neck is still blistering and oozing. I’m excited to see the results once everything heals. Thanks for your story, I’m looking forward to my end results.

I should have mentioned if it was painful....

I was given a Xanax before the procedure just to relax me. And if you are used to Botox pricks then the lidocaine/PRP injections will be tolerable. Towards the end it became what I would describe as "somewhat unpleasant" and I was assured it was "almost over" so made it through. Although available, I did not want the nitrous oxide (laughing gas). I personally wouldn't take the risk of a general anesthesia for such a procedure and would think that would add quite a bit of cost to the treatment.

Thank you for writing a review of J Plasma! It DOES need its own heading. I also had the procedure done, about the same time as you I think, but on one side it went deeper for whatever reason(there were much deeper wrinkles on that side and I had sun damage) and I developed scarring. My Dr. is also a fan of PRP and with that, microneedling and fat transfer we are working to heal that area. Other than that, it is a remarkable technology!

I forgot to add, my procedure did not hurt one tiny bit! I had two Valium beforehand, and felt nothing. Also had a bit of liposuction and fat transfer at the same time.

Nitrous oxide is not general anesthesia
