My Nose is PERFECT and Looks Natural, Best Plastic Surgeon for Rhinoplasty

When it comes to rhinoplasty, Dr. Toledo is an expert and an artist. I am now six months post-op and my results are better than anything I had ever imagined before, and better than 99% of the post-op noses I have seen throughout my life. I could not recommend him highly enough. If you are considering rhinoplasty/septoplasty, choosing Dr. Toledo is a no-brainer. I cannot believe my results look this good and this natural only six months after my surgery, and I could have easily said the same thing after only two months.

CONSULTATION

At the initial consultation, I met with Esther, who was very sweet. She asked some general questions about what I was looking to get done. Then another lady came in and took pictures of my nose from the front and side views.

After some time, Dr. Toledo came in and looked at my face. He asked me what I wanted to address through the rhinoplasty, and I told him mainly the bump on my nose. He commented that there were also two deviations in my nose and that I probably had trouble breathing out of my left nostril. I told him I had never noticed that before, because I had never tried to breathe out of one nostril. He made me breathe in and out of each nostril separately, and I realized that he was right — there was a big difference in my breathing from my left nostril versus my right. He said he would address that in the surgery.

He then noted that my face needed a “prominent nose,” which I was very glad to hear. I was not interested in getting a nose that was too small for my face.

He then walked me to his computer, where he had the photo of my profile pulled up. He digitally manipulated the photo to show me his projections of my “after” photo. The projection looked very good, but it was still hard to imagine what it would really look like on my face. He said that normally the real after photos were about 85-90% similar to his computer projections, and that he was not very good with making the changes on the computer. He also told me that there was no such thing as a “perfect” nose, and that no one could create a a perfect nose, which I felt was very honest. I asked him whether the surgery could help with my sinus issues at all, and he said probably not, which I also felt was very honest. Overall, I found him to be very straightforward in answering questions, not at all like he was trying to tell me what I wanted to hear, or just interested in “selling” to me.

After that, he left the room, and Esther came back in and went over the pricing with me.

The whole consultation was less than an hour long.

I spent about three weeks trying to decide between Dr. Toledo and another surgeon I had consulted with. It was one of the hardest decisions I have made. In the end, I chose Dr. Toledo because I thought he had the same ideas that I had about what would look best for my face.

PRE-OP

I contacted Dr. Toledo’s office and scheduled my surgery. They also scheduled a pre-op appointment for me. A portion of the total cost had to be made at the time of the pre-op or at the time of scheduling the surgery, I can’t remember which.

At the pre-op appointment, Esther spent a lot of time going over the procedures with me. She covered everything from what I could wear on the day of surgery, what I could eat afterward, my prescriptions and medications, how I could breathe, etc. She gave me several worksheets with much more detailed information to take home, as well. Esther is such a calming influence — she has so much patience and really helps calm your nerves when you’re talking about having someone cut into your face!

After my talk with Esther, Dr. Toledo came in. He looked over my face again and made a recommendation to move my upper lip a little bit lower so that my gums don’t show as much when I smile. I had not even brought this up or ever thought about it, but he suggested it on his own. I told him to do whatever he thought was best. He went over the procedures for anesthesia and surgery, and looked through the photo projections with us again. I got all of my prescriptions that day, too. Esther walked me through the prescriptions and let me know which ones were mandatory and which ones were optional. There were prescriptions for anti-nausea, pain, steroids, antibiotics, and a couple other things I can’t remember.

SURGERY

The day of surgery, I got to Dr. Toledo’s office. I met with Esther first, who calmed me down and went over everything with me again. Then I met with the anesthesiologist, Dr. Jackson. Then I briefly met with Dr. Toledo who just asked me if I was ready (I was not! I was freaking out). I walked into the room where Dr. Jackson was going to administer anesthesia. A few nurses helped him, too. He asked me some questions about my job and other things to distract me, and it totally worked. I started talking and almost immediately felt a head rush.

The next thing I remember, I woke up in a bed in a different room of the office. Esther was there, and there were a couple of other nurses, too. They were making sure I felt comfortable with my pillow and other things. I slept there for about a half hour or so longer. Then they transferred me to a wheelchair and wheeled me out.

My surgery started at around 9:30 a.m. and I was back home before noon.

I had stents up my nose, gauze underneath, and a cast on top.

POST-OP/RECOVERY

The rest of the day after my surgery was completely fine. I did not even need to take any pain medication. I stayed on a recliner all day.

About 3 or 4 a.m. of the following day, I woke up with a lot of pain, much more than I expected (I have a VERY low tolerance to pain, though). I took one of the pain pills I was prescribed, and about 15-20 minutes later, I was fine. I kept taking the pain pills for about 48 hours. After that, I switched to regular over-the-counter Tylenol. I did not have any negative reaction to the pain pills.

Esther continued to be a source of support during my recovery. She answered a couple of my phone calls and even a call from my mother, and was very reassuring.

I had the cast removed about 7 days after the surgery, and the stents removed about 14 days after surgery. Taking the cast off was a little uncomfortable, taking the stents out was pretty painful but only for a couple of seconds.

I had a lot of bruising around my eyes for about 3 weeks after the surgery, but I already knew that might happen, because I bruise very easily and bruises last a LONG time on me, even if I lightly bump into something.

The surgery itself was so smooth. As soon as I had my stents taken out, I could breathe normally.

RESULTS

When I got the cast taken off, my nose was pretty swollen (which is normal) but I was so happy with the results and so excited. I got compliments from EVERYONE. Everyone commented on how natural my nose looked. The way my nose is now, you would not guess that I had a rhinoplasty unless I told you — it looks so natural and fits my face so well. It is PERFECT. It does not look the same as the after photos on Dr. Toledo’s website — it looks like it was made just for my face. This is something about Dr. Toledo that I noticed that was different from a lot of the other plastic surgeons in town, even the very reputable and experienced ones. A lot of the surgeons seem to have one style of nose that they do for everyone. Dr. Toledo is not like that — he looks at all your facial features and does only the minimum necessary to correct any flaws, so that the results look perfect but natural. I could not be any happier with my results and I am SO happy and grateful that I chose Dr. Toledo as my plastic surgeon.

Not only does my nose look perfect and natural, but it also feels perfect as far as breathing, etc. It has only been six months (only half-way to the point where most surgeons say you can expect “final” results) but my nose has been feeling perfectly normal for about three months already. Sometimes I forgot I even had surgery. I went through my allergy season with this nose, it withstood lots of runny nose, sneezing, and blowing my nose — with no problems.

And the lowering of my upper lip, which was Dr. Toledo’s idea, has turned out great, as well. It is not something that anyone notices or that has made my lips look any different, but when I smile really wide, you can no longer see my gums. I have no idea how he did all that without changing my overall appearance.

I could not recommend Dr. Toledo enough to anyone who is considering a rhinoplasty or septoplasty. He is a complete professional and expert, and he knows what will look best for your face and overall features. His staff is amazing, his office is great, his anesthesiologist was wonderful, and his whole operation is set up to make you feel as comfortable as possible while you’re going to through a procedure like this.
