My surgery date is 10/4/17. Its has been a full year working on this. ???????????? im so happy, ive been over weight since i was little, ive tried countless diets, pills, exercises, etc and nothing has worked. This is the heavyest ive ever been. I am super excited to start this journey with you guys!

Pre-op

phoruiz11
My pre-op is on Monday 9/18/17. Im going to be do a 2 week liquid diet before surgery. ive tasted the protein shakes and the one I will be getting is the Bariatric advantage meal replacement that my surgeons office sells. The taste is pretty bad. it leaves a bad after taste in my mouth, but I guess its what must be done. Ive done countless research and have been reading everyone elses reviews and im hoping im one of the ones that does the surgery and doesn't have any complications, but one can only hope right. Well I will update after I see my surgeon on Monday.

I'm sure. i'm so excited. they called me yesterday and I thought it was bad news because it only took two weeks for approval when they estimated 4 to 6 or maybe longer

Liquid Diet!!!

phoruiz11
So my pre-op went good on 9/18/17. They told me to start my pre-op diet today. I am on a full liquid diet for 12 days and than a clear liquid diet for 2 days. I think for me this might be the worst part. Im drinking the Bariatric Advantage Meal replacement shakes. I got the chocolate one. Its pretty good. It does make me full. I am allowed 2 plain yogurts as well but have not tried those yet. So far no cravings but than again, its my first day so ill update sometime next week to see how im doing than.

Current weight: 262 lbs

Sounds like you are of to a good start. My doctor's office uses the same protein shakes and I hated them couldn't get it down. I'm using muscle milk and unjury
September 21, 2017
I had sampled the strawberry and ice latte ones and they were awful so I went for the chocolate, which is way better I have not tried anything else as of yet, I havnt gotten tired of it yet. I saw the muscle milk in Walgreens the other day. if I get tired of this one im going to try that one. im missing food a little now, not going to lie but keeping strong. Hopefully we can keep this up, how long is your pre-op diet for?
September 21, 2017
11 days, 10 for the protein and 1 for bowel prep the day before surgery. I'd love to keep the dialogue open Because I'm new to this two lol

How are you so far with the pre-op shakes
September 21, 2017
I have a few different chocolate flavors, strawberry, from muscle milk and atkins. the other flavors are from unjury like chicken soup, orange cream, banana, chocolate strawberry just to name a few. I also purchased flintstone chewable vitamins complete and b12 sublingual. still need probably biotin to prevent hair loss and iron

yes definitely me too.

Doing good so far on the shakes, have not had any headaches until today when I woke up. Last night I really wanted to eat something it was like 8 pm and I just stayed on my bed so I wouldn't go to the kitchen, ended up falling asleep. but other than that its ok. I do crave food sometimes but the shakes fill me up so im not hungry. I just want to chew something. so I chew gum for now I know after surgery we wont be able to do that. I only have womans 1 a day chewables, definitely getting the biotin ones, and than my surgeons office will give me the vitamins I needs after my 2 week post op, well I have to buy them $25. not so bad. how about you how are you doing on the liquid diet, how are you feeling

I started the pre-op diet today. Not so bad so far. Just had miso soup for lunch. working on another shake in an hour or so. I must have 4 shakes a day. hen I fill the rest of the day with sugar free jello and popsicles, broth and soup. And the dreadful water. I hate drinking water.
