Excellent FFS Revision
Prior to ever meeting Dr. Spiegel, I had FFS with a new and relatively young surgeon in San Francisco. The results of those procedures were useful in that they helped me appear more feminine, but as time went on I realized that things were not quite right. My forehead was still very angular and over-projected relative to the position of my eyes; my nose was unnecessarily tall, pinched, over-rotated, and lacked a radix; the lip lift he performed was too conservative and didn't result in adequate tooth show; my thyroid cartilage was insufficiently reduced.
So I expressed these concerns to the surgeon. He became defensive and dismissive, and despite multiple follow-up consultations (and my willingness to pay the full cost of revision surgery), my concerns were almost always invalidated or ignored — either he didn't care, or he simply couldn't be bothered to correct his miscalculations. In either case, I knew it was time to find a surgeon who would take my concerns seriously.
My search eventually led to Dr. Spiegel, who I found to be attentive, empathetic, and refreshingly unpretentious. When I sat down with Dr. Spiegel in Boston, he confirmed exactly what I had suspected all along: there was room for improvement (i.e. feminization) in a number of areas. He saw exactly what I saw, and he was willing to fix the problems. He was also willing to have a conversation about the way in which he intended to fix things, where he would remove material, and how these changes would affect surrounding areas. It was a collaborative process, and when I asked about other, more obscure surgeries, Dr. Spiegel was not afraid to advise against certain things. Cleary he wanted me to have the best results, and was not the type of person to ‘upsell’ unnecessary procedures.
A few months later Dr. Spiegel completed several of my revision surgeries with exacting skill and thoughtful attention to aesthetics. Shortly after surgery people began to remark that I ‘looked really good’, without anyone other than my closest friends knowing that I had surgery. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Spiegel, and only wish I had come to him sooner.
Dr. Spiegel’s staff is kind and personable while still being very professional. I was especially impressed with Carole, the patient coordinator. Carole streamlined everything, got immediate answers to any questions, and settled my anxious nerves. I've met and worked with a lot of doctors and never have I encountered a patient coordinator as genuinely caring as Carole.
Dr. Spiegel is an incredibly skilled surgeon who also listens to his patients — a combination that, in my experience, is quite rare. I cannot recommend him more highly.
Feel free to DM me with questions. :-)
