I came to the surgery center which was very nice and welcoming. I was greeting by a very friendly receptionist. I was then taken into the area to prepare for surgery. A very nice nurse introduced herself and began an IV and wanted to make sure I was very comfortable. I then met the anesthesiologist who also was very friendly and answered all the questions I had been concerned about . I told her that I had discussed with Dr. Hendricks that I wanted my procedure to be performed under a local. She explained to me that she had already had a discussion with the doctor regarding this matter and it would be as I had requested. A tech then came to take me into the surgery room. The procedure took 55 minutes and during that time the anesthesiologist tried to keep my mind off the procedure by showing me some of her family pictures. She constantly asked about my comfort level and told me that I could have some pain medication or sedation but it was my choice since the doctor had agreed to do the procedure under a local. After the surgery I was taken recovery and the nurse made sure I was fine before being released to go home. The next day I saw Dr. Hendricks and he once again spent a lot of time with me making sure all was going well and answering all my questions. He also assured me that if I had any questions once I left his office I could text him which made me feel very secure. Overall my experience was very good , however, I would not suggest a person do liposuction under a complete local as it can be quite painful.
