WORTH IT$10,000
I just thought I would let everyone know that I recently saw my plastic surgeon. I've had this pair of silicone implants for 9 years and he thinks they might be leaking. He told me to have an MRI done at Kaiser Permanente (my health insurance provider). The FDA recommends an MRI every 3 years to check for leaking or a rupture. Kaiser said no to the MRI. So, I filed an Independent Medical Review with the Department of Managed Health Care. I got a call from them last month telling me that my case was going up for review and it looked really good in my favor. I was not told it was going to be decided by a third party and by one doctor who is too scared to put his name down on the report. Once Kaiser found out I filed an Independent Medical Review they offered me a mammogram, an ultrasound, and an appointment with one of their plastic surgeons. Of course, I would NEVER do the mammogram because they make you sign a piece of paper that says if they rupture the implants they won't replace them. Needless to say, this third party doctor also denied the procedure. By the way, my premium is $800 a month. I'm sure a few months worth of premiums would pay for the procedure. What I'm trying to say is if your health care provider is Kaiser Permanente and you have silicone leaking in your body don't count on them to help you. I also have a history of problems with my breast implants. My first pair had a slow leak and my second pair ruptured. One of them ruptured but I had saline at the time.

Not much of an update

As I said, my case for an MRI was denied by a third party doctor who may not even be a plastic surgeon. I called the Dept. of Managed Health Care who sent my case out to this third party but they won't return my call. I wanted to know the name of the person who called and said I would probably win my case because the FDA recommends an MRI every 3 years to check for leaks and/or ruptures. The only option I have left is to sue Kaiser for the cost of an MRI. Or I could crawl back to them and accept the ultrasound, which is only 60% accurate. I won't do the mammogram because it could rupture one or both implants. I wish I had better news. I still have extreme fatigue, constant sweating, and my implants itch all the time.

First pair of breast implants

I had two more larger pairs put in later. The first and second pair were saline and the third (and hopefully last) pair are silicone.
