I went on a major exercise program and lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle. Although my body transformaton was great I lost a TON of volume in my face. If I would have known this weight loss would have had such a dramatic impact on my facial fat I would have never done this at the age of 40! I totally regret it and rather be a few pounds heavier and have my full face.
My biggest issue with my face is my jowls and they actually started to develop BEFORE my weight loss. I thought by losing the weight I would lose jowl fat but instead I loss mid-face fat. Ladies don't lose a lot weight after 40!
After a full consultations I decided to get Perlane in my upper cheeks. I went to Nouveau medspa and was injected by RN Lorraine Wilson. She is an expert injector and actually teaches other nurses and doctors her technique. She numbed my face with a topical cream and let it sit for 20 minutes. She then injected a total of 3 vials. (1&1/2 vial per cheek) I really do like the result but I feel like I need more and the bottom half of my face still needs to be addressed. Overall I feel it was a good experience but a bit pricey for something that will not last.

Looks very good. How long does this last?

I've been reading about Doctors using JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC noting that it is the first and (as of then/not too long ago) the only FDA approved filler for the cheeks, an injectable gel designed to add volume to the cheek area giving a subtle lift, helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile for UPTO TWO (2) YEARS! A gal on realself I can't remember who she is at this time but she went w/ the Voluma XC and her face looked naturally full and smooth, she looked great!!!! I was excited to see her on realself since I had read about it. She had it done in Scottsdale, AZ by Lisa Williams, ANP-C. she's a Nurse Practitioner/Master Injector of Voluma. She was trained by a Dr. de Maio. It is said that he is a renowned plastic surgeon and expert Voluma pioneer injector. Need to do some research.

My provider just prefers Perlane and I went with her recommendation. Still very happy with result. I have used Voluma in the past and it used to require frequent re-injections for the first year to get a lasting result. I don't know much about the XC product, though.

The Perlane sure worked great you look great. You had mentioned that it only lasts 9 months. It figures when something comes out great it doesn't last long! However, maybe it will last longer for "you!" You said you've used the Juvederm Voluma but not the Voluma XC. Where did you use the Voluma? I have doing my labial folds with regular Juvederm and it last about 2 yrs. for me. That's why I get so worried before every injection, hoping it will turn out good because it lasts forever on me and I am very active-runner work out with weights... So I'm thinking the Juvederm Voluma XC might last longer for me as well. However, at this time, I'm not sure if I again just need my labial fold areas filled or if a little something in my cheeks would help lift cuz I don't want to get that big fat cheek look when I smile (know what I mean?) Anyway you look really look great and hope it will last longer for you. Wish it was more of a sure thing but of course different products work differently on each person. It's almost like you have to try til you get the product that works for you...Trial & Error!? Darn Scary. Congrats!

Thanks I'll have to ask what the difference if any between the Juv. Voluma vs. the
Juv. Voluma XC and then I'll post it. Thanks!

I think you look wonderful! The bottom half of your face looks natural and lovely and you have a very youthful appearance. I only had 1/2 of a syringe of Perlane injected into each of my cheeks and it was plenty. And congratulations on your healthy body changes. I would encourage people to lose extra weight no matter what their age! 40 is still quite young and your joints will thank you as you continue to "blossom!"
