How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

I am 60, and my face had become very thin, gaunt...

I am 60, and my face had become very thin, gaunt and saggy from unintended weight loss due to illness. A I had always looked younger than my years and the weight loss aged me. A supposedly good doctor "sold" Ultherapy to me as a way to tighten things back up and rebuild collagen. It did exactly the opposite. The device does not tighten skin, it destroys fat and connective tissue (including collagen) below it. So what little paddingand skin suppor I had left disappeared, leaving me with paper-thin skin, and crepey, saggy skin at the jowls and upper eyelids, and a guaranteed free senior discount where ever I go, no questions asked. I suppose if a person has extra fat padding the skin may appear tighter when some of the fat is melted away, but if you have a normal or thin face, forget it--you risk damaging the integrity of your skin and looking worse. I have consulted other doctors who DO NOT use this as a skin tightening option for this exact reason. I have been told my skin will not be likely to snap back at my age.
I'm furious because the marketing for the device does own up to this and shows thin models with a teeny bit of jowls and a creepy necks transformed into tight-skinned beauties. Based on the countless reviews echoing the same experience and results, these pictures have to be retouched or flat out faked. And for the record, the pain was close to unbearable. Having had multiple, painful surgeries, I am no sissy when it comes to pain, but this entailed 40 minutes of not stop electric jolts that hurt right through the bone. My advice is stay away. There are better options.
