Chicken Pox Scar Subcision
I have a huge chicken pox scar on my nose that I got a couple of months ago. After one laser treatment, at the beginning of August I traveled from Massachusetts to see Dr Novick. According to my research he has been doing scar treatment/subcisions for over 20 years, and is one of the best doctors to deal with this type of problem. Though I was scheduled only for a consultation, he performed a subcision during my visit as he explained that time is of the essence, and it was best to start treatment sooner rather than later to maximize the potential for new collagen to form. He was also be able to diagnose that I had had chicken pox by looking at the scarring, while the previous dermatologist wasn't really sure what type of virus caused it. Dr Novick explained that I will need mulitple subcisions, fillers and microneedling. He explained that you have to be very careful when it comes to nose and that even too much anesthesia in the nose during subcision can cause necrosis. It gave me great confidence that he knew what he was doing. He was quite honest and said that it will take multiple treatments for me to see improvement. I am going to see him again in September and will give an update on my progress.
