hello all this is my first post on my upcoming procedure of the gastric sleeve. I will be having my gastric sleeve for done on December 18th 2013 and I must admit that I am i nervous but I'm excited to embark on my new journey of being healthy fit and live a long happy life. I'm currently at day 5 of my pre-op diet all liquid diet and my first day was very tough but day two until now has been quite enjoyable and easy. I'm a little apprehensive because I don't know what to really expect as far as healing but again I'm more excited than anything. I've read some of you guys post and comments on here; the community is seems to be very supportive and that's what I really need right now, I need a lot of support and also if I can be of any help and support I would love to do so. I would like it very much if you guys can post and send me messages of your experiences of being sleeved, that would really help me out a lot. if you have any questions or concerns about the pre op diet for my future sleevers, please feel free to send me a message and I will get back to you and answer your questions fairly quickly. I have however came up with some new innovative ways to make it a lot more easier and enjoyable while doing your 2 week pre op diet. i came up with some ways that has a very low calorie intake so if you're interested in learning about some of those ways or things that I've been doing since I've been began on my journey, please feel free again to contact me and I will be more than happy to share also I would like to keep in touch with you guys in witnessing your journey and your experiences as well as hearing some of your thoughts and your feelings and hopefully we can support one another. so again my sleevers thank you for reading my post and I look forward to reading your comments and i hope we'll be sharing our journey and experiences together. I wish you all much success and I hope to hear from you soon. later Gators

I will be just ahead of you so I'll definitely keep you updated. Day 5 of pre-surgery diet, down 7 of the required 10 so feeling good about that. I'm excited and nervous as well but still resolute in this decision! Keep in touch!

Question what are you eating for your pre-op diet? Just curious.

Welcome to the community!

It won't be long at all until your big day and you're gonna do great! We're all behind you! What kind of things are you "eating" on your pre-op diet?

You can read my sleeve review, if you click on the link. I tried to make it as detailed as possible because I know how much all of the reviews I read, helped me.

Good luck and keep us updated with your progress!

Thanks, i'm drinking the boost high protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, for dinner i'm eating soup with clear broth or spinch & kale omlets and one day i had some steamed chicken with broccoli. I have drinking crystal light water once a day and in between dinner i'll have a non fat greek yogurt or a small fruit like grapes, Kiwi or a banana. I just can't wait for the surgeryto be over, i find that my fears are beginning to take over. Thanks for posting and i'm going to read your sleeve review right to gain some more insight. Thanks again.

Oh, so you're not on an all liquid pre-op diet?

Thanks for sharing. It's normal for nerves to kick in, but you'll do great. By the time you wake up it will all be over with and you won't have known a thing about it. We're all here to support you! :-)

Thanks, my doctor said that i could have solid food (small amounts) for dinner but not for breakfast lunch. But on my last 2 days i am to drink clear broths only. My weight right now is 247lbs and i hope reach 160lbs. I'm hope im doing things right with this diet. I have seen results since i've began and stomach has gone down tremendously. The only thing is I'm having the hunger headaches usually around 2 p.m. To about my dinner time which I usually eat about 6 p.m. But other than that everything is going okay again I just hope I'm following the diet correctly but I guess time will tell.

I just read one of your comments about the pre op liquid diet, i'm gonna not continue to eat the fruit and for the remainder of the diet i will continue to drink protein but not eat anything solid. Only jello and clear broths. Im gonna call my nutritionist tomorrow just to confirm. Thanks and i hope i didn't do any damage.

Hi there, every doctor is different, some let you eat one meal a day, mine didn't. I would definitely call your nutritionist and get their advice, before changing anything.

If you're getting headaches maybe try having some jello or something in between. It may be that you're carb crashing, which is the point of the diet, to lessen your carbs and therefore shrink your liver. Just don't go below 30grams of carbs per day.

I called my nutritionist and I'm awaiting her to call me back but what I am doing is just drinking a shake from want lunch break and shake for breakfast um I did go out and buy some jello and I'll eat that in between and continue to eat a sensible small portion meal the size of a deck of cards which is the chicken and a vegetable and after that I'll just drink a crystal light so hopefully that will help and I'll follow your advice about monitor in the car because I don't think I'm getting any carbs of that much carbs in but I'm going to monitor a little more closely so thanks again for posting and again I'm going to turn to you and everyone else for a lot of it by so just asking already please be patient with me and thank you guys for all of your help and support and your comments that you've shared with me already.

Definitely go by what your nutritionist said. Not everyone will be on the same pre-op diet or for the same length do time. It depends on how much weight you have to lose and other factors. Last day of pre-op for me. Tonight...The Last Supper LOL! You're doing great, just one more week to go!
