My Doctor Skillfully Used Restylane to Make My Under-Eye Bags Disappear! - New York, NY

WORTH IT$1,000
I was tired of looking tired due to the noticeable tear troughs and hollowness under my eyes. Dr. George Yang was a miracle worker and skillfully, artistically used Restylane filler and they disappeared!! He could not have been more patient and kind in explaining everything and answering my questions. I've posted "before and after" photos here. The "after" photos were taken about 30 minutes after the procedure once I got home so the lighting is different than the "before" photo taken by myself while waiting for the doctor to begin. You'll also see the injection marks in the "after" but those were due to very slight bruising that went away in a couple of days and which I easily concealed with makeup. I ate pineapple in the morning for a few days before and I'm told that helps significantly with bruising. The last photo was taken about a week after the procedure. I would highly recommend this procedure if your doctor is good at using filler. Dr. Yang is an artist, so if you're in NY, you should do yourself a favor and get a consultation with him.

Additional Photos
These photos were taken in the doctor's office under standard lighting. These are photos before any filler, and a couple of weeks later - after I went back for an additional half vial of filler under my left eye, which needed a little more. That additional cost is included in the total pricing I provided for this review.

You got very good results without surgery, just filler, and it looks so natural.

Your doctor did a great job and I noticed he's a "facial plastic surgeon." I'm consultating next week with someone in facial plastics after letting general plastic surgeons try to repair my submental region and incision line beneath my chin without much success. I finally realize the ENT surgeons with additional board certification in facial plastics are probably the most knowledgeable and skilled in the art of facial refinement. And eventhough eventually had a successful filler treatment in the periorbitals by a general plastics surgeon I might switch over to the facial plastics surgeon for future injections...all depends. So thanks for sharing your positive experience with Restalyne. I had read too many bad experiences on Real Self but this makes me feel more confident in getting a Restylane touch up in the periorbital; that it is a "tried and true" option for refreshing the undereyes.

too many drs. mess up w/ fillers. using a fps or ent is a better bet. with what I read here and on other websites I would only go to a fpl. I live in nyc/manhattan. they are here by the boat load and 97% are bad and don't know it.

Love it! How long did it last before you had it done again

June 29, 2014
I had it done in February it's still holding up! I think it should last about a year.
October 7, 2014
Checking in to see if the filler is still present. Are you still happy with the results. The pictures are great. Thank you for posting them

October 8, 2014
Yes, I still love the results and the filler hasn't changed....it's still fully present. I'm very happy. It should hold up to February - August next year; but perhaps it will last even longer! I'm hoping.
October 10, 2014
Thank you. That is amazing. I had heard it does not last that long. I think i will need to have this done.

I was told 12 - 18 months are typical results. Fingers crossed mine last 18!

I too have seen Dr Yang (for upper eyelids and one lower eyelid restalyne treatment). IMO what sets him apart from his peers is his passion for understanding and correcting aging. Few people (in any profession) have such a passion for their craft--this is why , again, IMO, we see so many people unhappy with their procedures. Their providers don't have a passion for the work.
April 24, 2015
what does IMO stand for? how much did Dr, Yang charge you? What did this price exactly cover? Thanks
April 24, 2015
IMO= in my opinion. Dr Yang charges by the syringe. I'm not sure of his current prices, but when I was there it was 350.00 per restyle (small size) syringe. I ended up using 2 syringes, but it was not all used in the upper eye lids--he used some elsewhere on some areas I had asked about.

thanks 4 ur answr. too many people have problems w/ filler injections. so I am torn between whether it is the filler or the injector. After reading Yangs' answers from a plastic surgery blog I couldn't get over how detailed and knowledgeable he is. I was very impressed with this. I am 61 and have lost a lot of collagen and have deep dark circles. I do not mean to over reach I am just curious how old are you? With each decade more and different ageing occurs. What can easily be achievable at one decade can be difficult or nearly impossible at another! I hope you understand, I am just trying to find ascertain CORRECT and reliable info b4 I proceed. I feel that Drs. are too pushy and money hungry and do not take into one of the most important factors which is.....where will this persons face be in 15 yrs.? from now. It is the elite Dr. who is worried about his long term reputation that usually is cautious and honest. What about fat transfer? Did you ever consider that? Thanks! awaiting your reply ASAP :)
April 29, 2015
Hi Jeff, I understand your hesitation. I am 42 and yes, the younger you are, the "easier " it can be to make corrections, but age is not the only factor. A lot has to do with the shape of the eyes. This is why Dr. Yang has you bring in photos of yourself as a child, in your 20's etc. He then discusses with you what he can and can not do. He also showed me many before and after photos of his patients--of all ages. There were patients aged 20 and patients aged 70.
I agree with you. The vast majority of PS are money hungry and treat you like a piece of cattle...with a very fat wallet. In my opinion, Dr Yang is different because he has a passion for learning about age-ing. I actually have the same passions and I have a science background so I actually have had hour long discussions with him on the how's , why's and future of...various procedures--even ones that he does not perform.
Regarding fat transfer in the eye-lids. First you need to understand that the filler is not deposited under the eyelid skin--it is deposited via canula in an orbital pocket that runs along the hollow of your upper eye lid. One puncture is made and the filler is deposited. The Dr. Yang kind of 'squishes" the filler to fill the entire pocket. This is why there are no lumps with his version--because the filler is contained only within this pocket--it does not migrate and it does not lump. Dr . Yang told me that he used to do fat grafting in this area but with filler available he no longer has the need. The fat grafting requires liposuction and then a more involved procedure to place the fat in the area mentioned. Dr. Yang also voiced concern with the possibility that weight gain could impact these fat cells. Again, he may still do fat transfer, but it is something that you would need to discuss with him. He does do PS.
Your best bet is to meet with him to discuss your situation (bring your photos) because honestly that is the only way to get the most correct /accurate information for YOUR face.
Good luck!

Ms. Liz-did Dr. Yang do ur upper lids with filler? You seen to be very smart and sharp and know quite a bit. Thanks for answering. U look great and are very pretty. Thanks for the advice on the photos. I think that more has to do with quality of skin and genetics. I am practically out of collagen on the face. It has deflated and therefore I think that Dr. cant help me. Pls. advise. Thanks. ;)

Liz you had ur procedure one yr. ago. Is it still good? or did the filler disappear. How long does the filler last? Just trying to prepare myself for reality/. Thanks.

You look even better!

January 25, 2015
Thanks! Once the swelling went away it just looked like me...just 10 years younger. I swell terribly and it took a good month - 6 weeks for it all to go away.
March 3, 2015
You look great and because of you I have an appointment with Dr. Yang next week. I was wondering if he he used a half cc or a full on you? Thanks so much

March 5, 2015
Thanks! You will love Dr. Yang. He used a full cc on me and then the follow up we used another 1/2 cc.
March 6, 2015
Can I ask how your swelling and bruising was? How drastic yours was and how long it lasted? I'm very nervous to do this if you can't tell :)

March 6, 2015
Once you meet with Dr. Yang and his wonderful assistant, May, you won't be nervous any more. Please tell him I said so! ;) I bruised right away as you can see in the after photos, and the swelling started happening that evening, which made me worried about the results, but as the swelling subsided, I could see how nice it was going to be. Eat a lot of pineapple a couple of days before your procedure, it has something in that helps with bruising. I wore glasses that covered up a lot of the bruising so I could go to work without scaring people. But you won't be able to go to work right after the procedure. The bruising took about a week to go away, and the swelling about 2 weeks (but it's minimal swelling....just I noticed it). I hope that helps!!
March 8, 2015
You really look amazing. I hope mine comes out this way too!! I plan on doing it friday so do you think I'd be okay at work monday? Is the bruising that bad that it's scary or is it okay and able to be covered by makeup? Also any other tips besides pineapple?? Thank you Sooo much for the helpful comments! I truly appreciate it

March 8, 2015
I think you'll be okay to go to work on the monday with makeup! I would ice down the area about 30 minutes prior to the appt....they'll give you a nice ice pack there, but ask Mae if you can show up 30 mins earlier and ice the area prior to your appt. That might help a lot! Good luck - not that you need it, because you'll be in great hands - and please post photos!

Hi Ingrid, Your results from Dr Yang are lovely. You know, under the eye the hyaluronic fillers may last far longer than 18 months in some people. I had very happy smooth results from an under eye filler injection 3 years ago. During this time, sadly the cheek areas have descended with ageing, but the filler under the eye was still there 3 years later. However, the descended cheek tissues meant that the filler (which originally patched up a sunken tear trough so smoothly) latterly began to show as an isolated lump because it was no longer surrounded by cheek tissue. The hyaluronic filler in my case lasted 3 year;, so long lasting that it later became visible when unstoppable ageing caused my cheek tissues to change position. So, I had just last week had hylase injection into the tear trough filler, which dissolved it rapidly within 6-8 hours. Now, without the ugly bulge of the filler, I can really appreciate how sunken my under eye areas have become. Its still better than staring at the bulging lumps of the long lasting filler. No wonder the general advice is not to have permanent fillers which are not hyaluronic based, because our faces are dynamically changing with time, and what maybe a suitable patch at one time my not be a suitable patch 5 years down the line. And non-hyaluronic fillers cannot even be easily dissolved with hylase at all

Thank you so much for that information. Wow 3 years!! That's great! I've passed the 1 year mark and still have great results.
