Hi Dolls - I'm 44 years old and have considered PS for a very long time - I love this website and find everyone so encouraging and reviews insightful - So I figured I would document my path/story - I initially started this process 6 years after having my two children and losing the weight I wanted to lose - Unfortunately at that time I went through some life changes and decided to use the money from my surgery for other things - Now I am ready to do this again and I can't wait!
So far I have seen 3 doctors for consultations regarding potential BA/BL/TT/BBL/LIPO (everything and anything - lol) - one of them I know is completely out of the question (very reputable doctor) because I didn't feel comfortable with their bedside manner AT ALL! The other two (Dr. Farruggio and Dr. Taranow) were really great. Definitely didn't feel like I was being sold anything and gave me honest opinions and set the expectations about the outcome.
As far as prices go - everyone has been in relatively the same ballpark for variations of the procedures - I believe for now I will do a BL with Lipo on a few sections (back and mid areas) but not my stomach (yet! - TT later :-)) - but this site has opened my eyes to perhaps traveling for procedures - I think there are some great doctors in and out of the country - And I am sure that for around $10k I could probably get more than I am getting - but in all actuality for those that went out of their town's - was the savings significant? (given airfare and incidentals) I think I could go to Miami and the same procedure might cost between 5-7k or DR and it would be less than that - but not sure that is significant enough given hotels, airfare, lack of physical interaction with Dr before and after procedure etc.
Anyway - just thinking aloud.
