I am naturally a tall, leaner person but genetically I inherited the standard belly that a lot of Indian women have. As someone who has lost weight to a point of looking sickly and still have a belly and lower back fat not go away, I felt it was time to take other measures. I have an odd body shape. I don't have much for hips so ANY weight above my hips looks strange.
I went to Dr. Shafer after doing a TON of research, in-person meetings, discussing it with people I trusted. Given his reputation, past work and personality he felt like the best person to do the surgery.
The day of the surgery was very peaceful. The hospital was incredibly organized, nice, comforting and pristine. I was satisfied with it all.
Post-surgery it took me close to two weeks to be functional. I felt the aftermath on the surgery was subdued and that I could have been given a more honest level of what to expect in terms of pain and recovery. I was in severe pain for a week. I don't like taking pain killers and had to take several to sleep. This also affected my stomach and made me feel super sick.
Post-recovery I noticed (a year later) that I still had a small bump on my lower abdomen and my lower back was not what I had expected it to be. My lower abdomen was re-visited in-office but it's still there a little bit and I don't know if I should go back and ask about it. I do appreciate the touch up but it still isn't 100% and I wish they could have re-done my lower back. This would have cost me more money and I thought after dishing out 10k, it would be perfect.
