32-Year-Old In Shape But With A Mini Double Chin - New York, NY

Hello friends! I'm 32 years old and in good shape. Double chins run in my family and I began noticing my mini chin showing up in photos. Eek!

I got one syringe of Kybella and the procedure was overall pretty painless. Here's what happened:

1. I was given Ibuprofen and then a Novacane shot. The pain level was maybe 2/10 on that.
2. I was numbed for the procedure. I felt very little and it's similar to any injectable. If you have gotten Botox or Restylane, it's going to be easy as pie. To be honest, it hurts waaaaay more getting my eyebrows waxed. Overall pain: 2/10
3. I iced my face for a few minutes and then I was good to go.

The whole procedure took maybe 15 minutes. Visually, I looked okay. I went home and took one ibuprofen every four hours (400 mg) and iced a couple of times.

I'm considering getting it done on a Friday. Similar situation as yours just a little fat....what's the downtime like? Are you really swollen afterwards if so how long?

Updating my review now but YES I AM SWOLLEN. Don't try to schedule ANY social event for at least 5 days IMO

I just had mine done as well. I was noticeably swollen for the first 3 days, and hid it as best I could with a scarf. It's gone down a bit now and looks much better but I still notice it.

Yes it took me a solid 2 weeks before I felt "normal" again!

It am also in shape and didn't have much fat to loose. I was very swollen however, it looked like I had a golf ball under my skin. It took approx. 3 weeks for the swelling to go down after the first round. I also had a big bruise that took a week to go away. The 2nd round was way better, but I was still embarrassingly swollen afterwards. Its been 6 days after round 2 and I am still swollen, but the bruise has gone away already. Keep icing several times a day and applying Arnica. I would schedule this 4 weeks before any event to be sure you will at least be back to baseline by then.

Swollen Like a Bullfrog!

The first day was okay but the swelling is NO JOKE. I've been walking around with a golf ball-size lump under my chin for the first 5 days since the shot.

It's not so bad that you have to go into hiding BUT you do not want to plan any events, photo shoots or dates for at least a week. It's IMPOSSIBLE to hide the bullfrog effect even with a turtleneck or scarf.

Every day the swelling decreases but the "zero downtime" is a total lie.

I know--no one tells you how bad it really is!I'm furious that the MDs treat it so cavalierly. There is plenty of downtime. You can't go out with all the needle holes showing, plus the swelling is unbelievable. It does go downSLOWLY.I'm post 10 days and still have a small, hard, golfball.Still wearing scarves too although the bruising is now gone.

I'm on day 6 and still swollen. I hope to get back to the gym by tomorrow day 7.

Totally agree about the bullfrog look, however, it is going on 3 weeks and I have a bigger chin than prior to the injections. I'm hoping the 5 week mark does reduce it and then I go for a 2nd round. If I could have afforded it, I still would have elected cosmetic surgery like my sister.

I highly suggest getting the shot during the winter (or when you can wear a scarf without looking like a total weirdo)

I'm 2 weeks and my chin feels like someone shot cement in it, honestly I am leary about round 2 it makes me wonder what the hell is in this stuff FDA approved or not!
June 6, 2017
My doctor said that FDA use to have an excellent physician that would have never allowed Kybella to be approved. He retired several months before it was given the "okay". I do not know much about this personally.

I don't know but I have a feeling this one is coming back to bite someone? I don't think I'll be having any more

Mine was pretty painless but I went to a highly-rated doctor. Like any cosmetic injectable, go to the licensed/specially-trained person even if it costs a few hundred (or thousand) more.

I did go to a very reputable PS he did my TT and I would trust him with my life, I believe everyone reacts differently

Yes, I was NOT happy after my first few sessions of Kbella. I definitely looked worse, not even lose to baseline for a few months. Now- I am seeing results. I think age, metabolism, etc. may slow down the visual results. A few weeks after lymphatic massage I looked much better. My only real beef with Allergan is: 1. They said Kybella is for moderate to severally heavy chins. I don't agree. 2. They never disclosed how much time passed before all the models on their website saw results. I think they knew it was a "year long" process. I find it interesting they post the BMI, the age, the amount of Kybella used, but no where did they post length of time.

Wow it looks great. I want to get it done so bad but I'm afraid it will be so painful. Did you loose any feeling in that area? I read where it could cause nerve damage

How much for under the chin? Can it be done in other places of our bodies?

It's been one week and I'm still swollen. I've been tilting my head upwards but head on you can see the "bullfrog effect"
