Just Had Procedures Done- and Have Questions - New York

Two week check in!
WORTH IT
Hi Everyone,
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my surgery. I am feeling much better and can actually see many positive changes. I have had a real issue with overall swelling of the face and eyes which led to a very uncomfortable pressure behind my eyes and temple aches. My doctor prescribed a round of steroids on Friday which has helped the physical discomfort and swelling. I look in the mirror and see me again- but it's a refreshed and younger looking me. Dr. Jelks and his staff have been great and I can now confidently state- this was worth it! I still have the normal after effects of surgery- Dumboesque ears and some jaw numbness but nothing out of the ordinary.

Less swollen- hopefully we are turning a corner!
I looked in the mirror this morning and almost recognized myself- lol! Today is day 6- post surgery. My neck and feel very tight but I think it's all part of the process. I have a lump on the right side of my neck but after sending the doctor pictures- he seems to think it's an inflamed muscle. I see him tomorrow so it will get looked at. I'm adding a photo- still quite swollen- but there is improvement. I haven't mastered the selfie thing so one of my eyes look wonky- please excuse the bed-head and lack of make-up.

Day 6? You look fantastic. I've seen so many photos on this site and many women still look battered after 3 weeks. Lucky you. Good surgeon, good genes,

Thanks- honestly though- I think I look better in this picture than in real life. The bruises on my eyes are somewhat hidden from my glasses which I need- without them- it's a blurry world-. Also - I am more swollen than the picture shows. Thanks for the encouragement!

You look great for 6 days! Making your way through the post-op mine field will soon be over. Everyone is different and each person has their own things they worry about or things that may develop, whether of concern or just a passing thing, and yet...we are all in this together and experience many of the same post-op (and pre-op) concerns. I know you likely don't feel great but soon you will be feeling better and, of course, looking even better! So happy for you!

Good luck Cher! I'll be thinking of you. I got my stitches out today. Doctors reassured me that I am healing well and everything looks good. I'm still very swollen but I need to remember it's only been a week. I didnt bruise much at all which is good. I'm a newbie at this but if you ever have questions or need reassurance I'm here to help!

Thank you so much......you'll probably be hearing from me. That gives me hope that you didn't bruise much, that's what I'm very much hoping for. It just seems like the bruising takes the longest to go away!

When you are feeling up to it- let me know how you are doing. Take good care of you- you are going to do great. The most important thing that I have learned since last week is that healing is a process- patience is a tough one for me but when I practice it- I'm much happier. I have periods when I feel good and positive- and moments when I'm tired and stressed. I think that it's just part of the whole healing journey. This morning I looked in the mirror and really felt like this was all worth it. Arnica and Bromelaine are very good for bruising and swelling as I'm sure you know. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!

The neck tightness is so weird! The muscle in my neck is super tight, but I realized the skin around it is just normal. So when I yawn, eat, or stretch, still feeling super tight, even though I don't think it looks weird to anyone else. Good luck in your recovery!

Still swollen but subsiding a tiny bit
Thanks so much everyone for your encouragement and kind words. I see my PS on Tuesday for eye suture removal and on Wednesday for suture removal around my ears. I will report back as to what the doctor says. I'm not in pain just feeling tight and uncomfortable at times. Patience has never been one of my strong suits and I am getting quite the work-out in it these days. It's only 5 days post surgery so I need to remember that and go with the flow. Will post more pictures after suture removal. Again- thanks so much!

Good to know you are going well. The tightness is typical...I still have it and some days it actually hurts. That's why I have Valium, it does help quite a bit when needed to relax this muscles somewhat so I can move my head without always being aware of the tightness and pain. I gotta hand it to all you gals who get the eyes done, as well as the facelifts. What an ordeal it must be and how brave to go through so much at one time! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Your results are amazing; such positive changes! The swollen photo looks much younger than the previous 2 pictures. I had a F.L. and your progress with swelling seem similar to what I experienced.
