Just Had Procedures Done- and Have Questions - New York

ORIGINAL POST

Hi Everyone! First, I'd like to thank everyone for...

WORTH IT
Hi Everyone!
First, I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their experiences- reading through them helped me tremendously in making an informed decision. On Tuesday, July 14, 2015- I had an upper and lower bleph with fat transfer under the hollow of the eyes and upper cheeks. In addition- I had a lower face and neck lift with suctioning of the jowls and neck. He also cut that pesky muscle which makes the 11 line between the eyes appear- this should alleviate having to put Botox there in the future.

My experience so far has been positive. I chose a doctor in NYC who was highly recommended (Dr. Glenn Jelks). He and his staff are very professional and knowledgeable. The procedure went well. I was given local anesthesia and the procedure took about 3.5 hours. After the procedure- I had a great nurse come back to our hotel and she stayed the night. My husband has been wonderful and I don't know what I would do without his love and support.

I can't say that I am in pain but right now I feel very uncomfortable. My neck is tight and swollen and my face is very swollen. There is minor bruising but a great deal of swelling on my face- eyes and side of my neck. I am taking all the prescribed meds which include antibiotics- Celebrex- eye drops and ointment- arnica pellets- bromelaine- extra strength Tylenol and Valium at night so I can sleep. I am using a 30 degree wedge pillow and avoiding salty foods. I have also been doing cold compresses.

I unsderstand that everyone is different but was wondering if any of you had a good deal of swelling post procedure and if the swelling migrated to different areas of your face and neck as the days passed. Also- can anyone give me a rough estimate as to how long it takes for some of the swelling to subside? Yesterday- my eyes were an angry red color and after sending pictures- the doctor recommended that I ease off the ophthalmic bacitracin because he think I mat be reacting to it. I am going to speak with them today and send more pictures and go from there.

I will post some pre-neck photos and side views. I am going to hold off a few days before I send post neck and face pictures because right now I look so swollen. Hopefully- this will subside soon and I can take and post pictures.

Again- thanks everyone for your generosity in sharing your experiences! I'm not sure why the photos are posting upside down- any suggestions?

I had a facelift/necklift 8 days ago. Very swollen for the 1st few days and then started seeing subtle changes and reduction of swelling. Since yesterday, day 7, I haven't been able to stop looking at myself. I already look amazing, even though there is still quite a lot of swelling along the jawline. So, hang in there. You will see results very soon!

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope I heal like you are.

Swelling comes and goes and does so for many months. Try and keep away from salty foods. I often looked like Wilson from Castaway. The swelling was like a living thing moving around my face at will LOL I was lucky and didn't have too much eye swelling. I had FL, NL, upper & lower bleph and endoscopic brow lift. When it is hot and humid my face can still swell a bit. I found just a cool compress on my eyes worked best, no ice packs on eyes. Tight neck yup but that is what we all want better that than hanging bits under our chin ha ha. At 4 1/2 months my neck still is tight, but I don't really notice it, not pain just an inconvenience.

Patience is the hardest part of this process, yes we can be fully presentable at two weeks, but it will be months before the face finally settles. Good luck you look great. We who have gone before you notice the major improvement and I hope you are loving who you are now - the best you can be.

There will be lots of swelling and bruising, unless you are one of those fortunate people who seem to slide through with hardly any that is noticeable. I've seen several women on here 7-9 days out who look as if they had no trauma to the face or neck, or what little they had could be easily covered with make up. I am not one of those, and 3 weeks post op I definitely am looking much more presentable and am venturing out and about now and then. My bruising is taking time here and there, although it is fading and not real obvious with make up and hair arranged over it. Very dry and peeling skin on my neck is an issue, as well. I do still have some swelling on one side along my jaw/bottom cheek/chin, but that also isn't real obvious. When I smile it is noticeable and makes that side look puffed out. It took me over 2 weeks to even think about going outside. I still don't want to be seen by anyone I know yet, but that could change by Sunday. I'm contemplating going to church services for the first time since the surgery, unless I feel as if my swelling/bruises will be noticed. If not this week, then next week for sure. There will be many changes and things that crop up as you heal. Do not hesitate to call your PS! We called a few times in the first few days post-op, and he or his office were very quick to respond and give advice and it was very helpful for him to be so responsive. They are there to help you through and not question or concern should be too small if it means putting your mind at ease or helping you to deal with any issue you might happen to have. Happy healing...rest, drink plenty of water, and try not to worry too much. Unfortunately, we can only do so much and our bodies (faces) will heal they way they are meant to for each of us.

I'm not one of those lucky ladies either. I have very little bruising but am very swollen. I sent a picture to my doctor today and he is pleased with my progress. I see him Tuesday for eye suture removal and Wednesday for suture removal around ears. I'm hoping this helps some. I'm with you- I am not planning on leaving the house except for the doctor over the next few weeks.

Oh, and you pictures didn't post sideways. Mine did, as well, when I uploaded using my smartphone, but once I got on the computer they were on there straight up. Your "after" photo seems to be gone.

And you already look wonderful! Much younger! :)

Thank you- as you know- the last 4 days have been rough. Trying to be patient and go with the flow but it can be challenging at times. You look amazing- so happy for you!

Post neck picture - day 3

Walkwithgrace
I'm posting a picture of my neck on day 3. My face is quite swollen so I don't think that part of me is a good representation. I am thinking for day 3- the neck and jowls are looking so much better than pre-surgery.

Still swollen but subsiding a tiny bit

Walkwithgrace
Thanks so much everyone for your encouragement and kind words. I see my PS on Tuesday for eye suture removal and on Wednesday for suture removal around my ears. I will report back as to what the doctor says. I'm not in pain just feeling tight and uncomfortable at times. Patience has never been one of my strong suits and I am getting quite the work-out in it these days. It's only 5 days post surgery so I need to remember that and go with the flow. Will post more pictures after suture removal. Again- thanks so much!

Good to know you are going well. The tightness is typical...I still have it and some days it actually hurts. That's why I have Valium, it does help quite a bit when needed to relax this muscles somewhat so I can move my head without always being aware of the tightness and pain. I gotta hand it to all you gals who get the eyes done, as well as the facelifts. What an ordeal it must be and how brave to go through so much at one time! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Your results are amazing; such positive changes! The swollen photo looks much younger than the previous 2 pictures. I had a F.L. and your progress with swelling seem similar to what I experienced.
