I have been wanting to get upper bleph to get rid of the hooded eyes and a laser treatment on my face but I read too many bad reviews and backed out 10 years ago. I can't justify spending a lot of money because looking at some of these Hollywood stars it appears their money didn't do them any good. I do love how Rene Zillwiger looks. I would consider her surgeon. I looked into having a facelift with a newer doctor in Mexico but he responded back to me saying his expertise is with the Life Style lift! I forgot about that doctor quickly. The second was between two popular ones on this board but there were too many complaints, the third choice was Dr Harley but if I'm going under the knife I would like the lift to last for 10 years. I haven't been able to determine if the SMAS lasts around 10 years. I was really tempted to go to Costa Rica and have Dr Lev perform the lift. I'm not a fan of tropical weather. I work hard during wild land fire season with equipment services for the fire fighters. I'm treating myself but I have been reading and following this board for a few years and another one prior. I have made my appointment at the plastic surgery clinic at Mt Sanai in NY. My husband and I are driving across the country the beginning of Oct for a October 24 consult and staying in upper New York until I have the procedure and the stitches are removed. I shall see what their recommdations are.

Are you saying you ruled out a PS because his experience came from doing work for Life Style Lift (now out of business)?

I ruled out a PS because he did LSL. I'm looking for a facelift that addresses muscle tightening so it will last longer.

Just because he used to do LSL doesn't at all mean that he isn't mow addressing the SMAS in his current technique. I think you would be suprised, perhaps shocked, at the doctors who learned their craft, early in their careers, doing LSLs.

I was hoping just that but he said that he used the LSL technique. I asked questions but his answers were vague.

I had hoped that he replied back to me after I sent my photos in that a LSL wouldn't be a good choice for me. His first response was he performed the LSL and after I mentioned that I wanted to know if he would address tightening the plane muscle and how would he achieve that.

Doctors who performed LSL, when the company existed, said they were not only lifting skin but the SMAS sheath as well and the incisions were in the general term "short scar". No incisions into the scalp above the ear. And typically no incisions along the nape of the neck. The procedure was done under oral meds/local lidocaine injections. I really think it is accurate to say that LSL led the facial plastic surgery "industry" in doing facelifts under local (not IV) and fully awake. Now a lot of doctors do this, when LSL started not so many did.

Yes, I'm aware of that but I can't choose a doctor who can't convey that when I ask about the technique that would be used to address the muscle tightening. I
would have to
Be 100% sure especially if I were to go to Mexico. I go to Mexico for dental work fully aware of the procedures before hand. I asked three times so I needed to move on.

GrandmaShell!! Good for you- Mt Sinai residents program is the way to go and I would have done that if I'd known it was possible (I thought you had to be NYC resident) have you seen the others on here who got full on face lifts with anything else they needed for under 5000.00? Oh man, although I'm very happy with my results with Dr. Harley I just could kick myself when I think........ oh well! Alls well that ENDS well!!!

Yes, I have been chatting with them to get as much information as I can. I wanted to just make an appointment and go have the surgery as you did. I'm driving from Oregon hauling our trailer. I'll have to go into the unknown about the time from my consult and the surgery. So, that is a challenge but I'm going to accept it. You look wonderful. I'm afraid i need a brow lift so keeping my cost down is a factor for me.

I’m having a lower facelift and upper bleh in Mexico rather than Mt Sinai

I have spoken to three others who had work done by Dr Maurice Aceves so tomorrow I’m crossing the border into Mexico tomorrow too. I became friends with a lady who works in a Plastic Surgry Center in Southern California who has heard positive feedback about Dr. Aceves so my concerns went away after talking with her a few times. He is well respected in the states and Mexico. I wanted to find a good Plastic Surgeon and a good price. I would choose him even if the price was higher. I was going going to go to Mt Sinai but crossing the states is harder for me than driving south. I’m traveling in our RV so recouping in our RV eases a lot of my worries.

can you tell me how you found others that used the same Dr? I’d like to see some other patients of his but not sure how to search on this site? thanks!

I contacted Dr Aceves. He put me in touch with another two patients. One has a review on RS. Click on the doctor and then click on facelifts which will pull up the reviews. Also good ole Facebook. He has a page with some great reviews I sent a private message to another client. I also work with a lady during the wildland Fire season whose regular job is at a plastic surgery center in Riverside CA. She spoke to the PS who she works did to see if they thought Dr Aceves was a good PS- his reputation is good in the states and Mexico. I didn’t get the impression that he is trying to build an American a business around Americans or Canadians. He mainly does mommy make overs and nose jobs.

54 Years Old and Menopause Wasn’t Nice So I Fought Back.

Yesterday I had a lower facelift and neck lift with upper eye bleph in Mexicali by Dr Maurice Aceves. I chose him because I was able to read about him on RS and talk to some of his actual clients. Dr Aceves has a good reputation in the states. He spent a few years practicing the Life Style Lift with an American calugue but now has perfected SMAS He is very kind, honest and thorough. I crossed the border and Jacqueline one of his assistance picked me up. I had the pre op in Mexicali. A chest ex ray, EKG and lab work that I paid extra for. I had planned to go,to Mt Sinai in early April to have thiamine down at the teaching hospital but the travel and process didn’t work for me. I traveled here with my husband in our RV. The sugary took about 4 hours and the discomfort is miminmal. I have swelling but no pain. I’m taking arnica, arnica tea, ice compresses.

Thank you for sharing your experience... super helpful! Is the U-shaped pillow helping you sleep on your back? I’m a side sleeper and one of the things that concerns me about getting a facelift is that I will have a hard time sleeping on my back... and may mess up the scar... May I ask what the pillow’s brand is? Thank you, in advance!

The pillow is helping me get to sleep on my side. The u share can support my outer area around the ear and the ear has a dip so the weight of my head doesn’t put pressure on the ear. My soreness now is only coming from my neck and shoulders being stiff from laying on my back. I just have a large pillow to elevate and the U- shaped pillow on top of my regular pillow.

I bought the pillow at TJ Max it has a cover so I’m able to wash it. It doesn’t have a tag stating the brand. So sorry.
