At a 32J at the time of my surgery; so far, I have never seen anyone with a larger, more disproportionate chest size. Aesthetically, I wasn't upset at the way they looked necessarily, but they were so heavy they caused a great deal of shoulder, neck, and back pain, caused winging of my shoulder blades, and made simple things such as exercise and dressing professionally difficult. I had thought of a breast reduction pretty much since I hit puberty at 13, but I became determined this year when my neck pain became near constant and I realized I was avoiding social situations because of the way I looked and how strangers would interact with me. Everyone I had spoken to about their breast reduction (a surprising amount of people had done it when I mentioned I was interested--I talked to at least 10 people) was happy with the procedure but most mentioned they wished they had gone down a bit more. As someone who has had extremely large breasts for nearly 20 years, I made it clear I was no longer interested in having my cleavage be of note to my doctor. It's important to research a doctor and feel fully comfortable and heard--many people I had talked to about their surgery mentioned they felt their doctor didn't fully understand or ignored their ultimate size goals--so, be firm and specific with what you want; it's your body! My doctor showed me pictures and asked point blank "So, you would like to be flat chested?" to which I replied "Yes!" I am glad I did because I am now about a 10 days post op and am very pleased with the size and shape but if it had been even slightly larger I would have been disappointed. My neck pain was gone the moment I woke up from the surgery. I no longer get the lower back pain I used to walking even short distances. Drains are the absolute worst part of it but it really isn't so bad. At first they were perfectly fine but after about a week it became a bit painful because every time you moved and the tubing really didn't it kind of rubbed and created bruising--just a heads up! However, getting the drains out was no problem, and once they are out you will feel so much better. I had my drains taken out two days ago and the difference is incredible--I feel free to move about normally and much more confident in wearing clothes and going out. It's been a short while but just the sheer pleasure of being able to wear clothes and bras that I have always wanted to has been amazing--button up shirts, jumpsuits, even a bandeau bra! The scarring so far doesn't really bother me. The way other people interact with me is also a noticeable change; I am seen as far more put together and professional now despite wearing the exact same clothes. The only downside is my nipples look quite different and one appears to be almost inverted, however, when I spoke to the NP at my follow up they thought it was mainly because of swelling and that it was temporary. In any case, even if my nipples remain this way, I still think it was 100% worth it. Will update with any further important information.
