WORTH IT
I am so excited to get this journey started. A couple weeks ago I started going to consultations with various doctors and I finally landed upon Park Avenue Aesthetic Surgery. I met with Dr. Schaffner who is an amazing doctor. I had a weird first appointment but after getting in touch with him and explaining what happened he was more than willing to do a phone consultation as well to show me his work and make up for the appointment.
After the phone consultation I set up a pre-op appointment with both Dr. Schaffner and his associate Dr. Blechman. The office was super accommodating and was able to set me up with an appointment in the following week, which was great since they are a busy practice. They submitted my information to my insurance (United Healthcare) and my reduction was APPROVED! So I won't have to pay anything out of pocket. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!
During my appointment both doctor answered all my questions. After the initial talk, I got examined by Dr. Blechman this time. Dr. Blechman is awesome and has an excellent bedside manner. I told him my goals for my reduction which is to go from my current size of 32F to a larger B, smaller C cup.
I've been going back and forth and am unsure of which cup size I would most like to land on. I'm leaning towards B cup. It's tough because as a larger breasted lady I have that instinct that many women have to just chop them off.
Either way my meeting with Dr. Blechman was great and I decided to set a date. So my date is set for 4/28/16. I'm super excited, nervous, and anxious all at the same time. I have taken such inspiration from the ladies on this site who have posted their pictures and stories that I decided to add mine here. More updates soon!!! Also forgive my poor quality breast selfies :)

Hi
Very happy for you that you have a date and are all set. You and I have similar builds, size etc.. Choosing what size you want to be can be a bit of a guess, as most PS will tell you that cant gaurantee. I can tell you , from the numerous reviews I have been reading all year, almost everyone wishes they had gone smaller, and really stressed that with their PS. So my advice is to really question your PS as to how much he takes into account the size YOU want to be- seems some of them have an idea in their head they will make you proportional ( their male idea of what that is) and it is not always what we have in mind. I know for myself I do not want 'curvy"- just how I feel. But some PS think every woman needs to stay curvy- if you want that great- but if you are thinking B cup really ensure he will do that/thinks he can. This has been a huge stalling point for me- was all set to go and my PS said I would still be a DD/D. Found one PS who could make me a B but not covered by insurance so back to square one. Make sure you get what you want- this is a lot of downtime and recovery to end up with so=so results!
Best of luck- I will follow your journey so keep us posted!

I will definitely keep everyone posted, particularly when I get closer to the date. I got the feeling from my appointment my PS was on board as far as what size I wanted. Which is definitely a relief. I am definitely in your boat as far as what I want. I don't want to be super curvy and I definitely want to be on the smaller side. I know there are no guarantees as far as cup size are concerned in the long run but I really am hoping for that magic B cup :) I hope you find a PS that's on the same page as you and gives you what you want. Definitely do your research and I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who works out (it's so hard to find someone who is in network so I know the struggle). I hope you are able to find the right PS and get the ball rolling. Best of luck!!

You are just like me! I have been humming and hawwing over this for years. But today is my birthday, they are swollen up like basketballs AGAIN and I am done! Went back to a surgeon I had a consult with a couple of months ago and said lets do this! Just waiting on insurance approval now. I want to be a B too. I definitely second the other comment - make absolutely certain they understand what you want. SO many effing surgeons I consulted with said "Oh! But you're perfect already!" REALLY??! Try carting F's around on a 104lb frame!

I know what you mean! Hate when people say oh their not so big. I'm like try living with them! I have laid it out with my surgeon and hope to have the results I want. I know there are no absolutes on end size but I hope he can get me around where I want. I'm really excited to get this started. Good luck with everything! Hope your insurance approves!!!!

One month to go!! Arnica Montana? What?

catcatrey
So it's exactly a month till the big day! I find myself dreaming about how this all will end up. The nervousness and anxiousness hasn't worn off and I don't expect it to. I find the thing I'm worried about most is the size I'll end up and what shape they'll be. I know that seems to be most people's worries pre-surgery and everything but that's where I am.
Since I'll be laid up for a bit after the surgery I am trying really hard to make it to the gym as much as I can leading up to the surgery. I want to make sure my body will match up with the new breasts I'll have. It's hard exercising as I feel a lot of back/neck pain and fatigue. But I'm trying really hard! Hope to lose a couple pounds prior to surgery. Not too stressed about it.
On another note, my PS's assistant suggested taking Arnica Montana before/after surgery. Anyone have any experience with Arnica Montana tablets with surgery? I looked on Amazon and there are a couple brands and different strengths. Not sure what I'm supposed to get. Input would be great!!

I took it after my surgeries. I felt like it helped with the swelling since once I stopped, I seemed to have more swelling (though to be honest, it could also be because that's just about when I started becoming more active again...which you'll find will make you swell up). It's worth a shot to try since it's pretty inexpensive and it just tastes like sugar.

Hey. I'm a few weeks behind you, due for BR on May 16th. Yes, I have heard a lot about Arnica Montana too. Based on my research, it is perfectly safe, and very commonly taken during surgical procedures. Start taking it a week before, and for 2 weeks after. It helps with swelling and bruising. People also often take something called Bromelain with it. This is an enzyme and also perfectly safe. I think it also helps with healing. I have seen several gals who swear by doing this. I will be doing it myself starting May 9th. Good luck to you! I'm also aiming for a 32B! Will be nice to compare post-op! See you on the "other side"!

Surgery Date Changed

catcatrey
So my PS's office called yesterday and told me they had to move my surgery date up by a day. Luckily my work is pretty flexible so I was able to get the extra day off! So now my surgery date is even closer 4/27/16. I'm okay with it even closer to the date now :)
