I am a 25-year-old, 4th year medical student that has struggled with weight since I was 15 years old. My sophomore year of college I finally decided to do something about it and a year and a half later, I lost about 70 pounds. Even though I was ecstatic to have lost the weight, it came with a few body changes which I wasn’t so happy about one of them having lost my once perky, round DD breasts. They were now barely a B, shapeless with stretchy skin and resembled breasts that of an elderly person. I tried to accustom myself to the change in my breasts however almost 2 years passed, and I just couldn’t. After talking to my parents extensively and with them on board, I decided I was ready for a breast augmentation.

Fortunately, I had done many internships in NY during the summer months before school started and a mutual doctor of mine and my mom’s highly recommended Dr. Engler. After researching and viewing his flawless credentials and astounding publications, I immediately called to schedule a consultation. I have been to many consultations interning with various doctors and I can say without a doubt, this consultation with Dr. Engler was the most truthful, laid back, sincere consultation I have ever been to. I had initially gone to him with the thought that I just wanted breast augmentation thinking it would solve my problem but man, was I wrong. After he educated me on types and sizes of implants that would be right for me, incision sites, recovery times and complications, prices, he examined me and informed me straight away, “In your case, I recommend doing a breast lift with implants. If you want to do just the implants without the lift, I won’t do the surgery.” Since I had a significant amount of stretched skin and practically no shape, this is why he insisted the lift with the implants. This is the kind of honesty I expect from any doctor and he takes aesthetics and the patient’s health and outcome as the utmost importance. The size was going to be determined after the breast lift as he didn’t know how big the breast pocket would be but he guaranteed they would fit my body proportionally and that they would be a dramatic improvement nonetheless. Although this “not knowing” left me a little uneasy, I felt assured that this was what I wanted to do and that he was the one to do it, no doubt in my mind. He is not the type of doctor that sees you as a credit card or just another patient but rather feels with you, makes your fears and doubts slip away and gives you a comforting feeling knowing you are in good hands. Without hesitation, I agreed to both procedures and two weeks later, had the operation.

Dr. E and his team were there when I woke up from the anesthesia, waited for my parent’s to come pick me up and escorted me to even make sure I properly strapped in the car so I wouldn’t feel anything driving home. Further post-op went without complications; Dr. E called me twice a day, every day for the first week to make sure I was doing fine and if I needed anything and I had his cell number if I needed to urgently contact him at any time during the day. This is what I call “exceptionally caring for your patients.” Every week I went to see him so he can monitor my progress and any questions I had I always (and I mean ALWAYS) e-mailed him and got a response within 15-20 minutes or called his office where his staff, from the beginning, are polite, kind, encouraging and make you feel like part of the family

It is now 2 months after my surgery and I am still recovering but feel great. Because I had the lift, it is taking a little longer than usual but it would be a sin to complain about anything. The surgery was flawless, the incision sites are disappearing from day to day and I cannot be more thankful that there is a doctor like Dr. E who does such amazing work and can change a person’s life. I have gained so much more self-confidence since the surgery and finally feel like a woman again. If anyone is looking to have a procedure done on their breasts, without hesitation I would recommend Dr. E in a heartbeat as there is no other doctor that I have seen with the quality, dedication and commitment both he and his staff express. I am extremely appreciative that I found him and have him to thank for getting two round, perky C-cup breasts.
