Ever since I was 16 years old I wanted to have...
Ever since I was 16 years old I wanted to have rhinoplasty. My parents always refused because I was too young, they wanted me to wait it out and see how I felt in a few years. At the time I thought they were being completely unfair. However, I believe that everything happens for a reason and if I did not wait I would have never found Dr. Guida.
After months of researching surgeons online (looking at portfolios, reviews, credentials etc.), I began going on a string of consultations. Although I knew I wanted Dr. Guida to perform the surgery based on his portfolio alone, I thought it would be best to have the opinions of other doctors.
I saved Dr. Guida as my last consultation because I had a feeling that if I met with him first I wouldn't have gone on any other consultation! And of course, once I finally met him it was a no-brainer. He was the doctor for me. He was incredibly professional, soft spoken and answered every single question I had regarding the procedure, healing time, anesthesia and so on. Before I left I had mentioned that I was going to go home and weigh my options before booking a surgery date. He told me if I had any questions, to call and make a second consul. appointment...so that is exactly what I did. Two weeks after my first consul. I went ahead and booked my second. And after my second round of Q&A with Dr. Guida, I booked my surgery for March 25th, 2014.
The day of the surgery I was incredibly calm. My mother on the other hand was a nervous wreck. Dr. Guida came in to speak with us before the surgery and put her worrying to rest. She was amazed at how incredibly down to earth he was. Also, both his office and operating suite are immaculately clean, which to my mother, being an Italian woman is everything! By the time the surgery was finished and we were waiting to get picked up, the woman (my mother) who once was completely opposed to plastic surgery was asking me what other procedures Dr. Guida performs and if I think she should get a face lift. Ha!
After the surgery I woke up and felt just fine. The staff at Dr. Guida’s office is wonderful. Jessica was the most the amazing nurse. She made me feel incredibly calm both before and after surgery. She explained to me what to expect over the next few days in terms of swelling and bruising.
The next week, looking back on it, went incredibly easy. Aside from the swelling which hit its peak on the third day (I already expected this because both Jessica and Dr. Guida explained to me that the third day would be the most intense in terms of swelling), I was completely fine. Throughout the entire process I did not experience any pain, not even a minor headache.
After six days it was finally time to have my splint removed! I was so excited to see my results. When Dr. Guida removed the splint and handed me a mirror it was like staring at a completely new person! I still looked like me, just a better version of me. My changes were not drastic, they were soft and although I was still swollen you could very well see the difference. I made sure to tell Dr. Guida that aside from the swelling, this was a pleasant experience and that I really thought he did an amazing job at making me look the way I always dreamed of looking.
I am now 3 months post-op and overall, I think this has to be one of the best decisions I have made to date. Although I am still swollen towards the tip of my nose (because that is where I had a majority of the work done and it also takes the longest to heal), I see changes almost every day.
I honestly cannot thank Dr. Guida enough.
