I had a hernia repair, a tummy tuck with lipo and a Brachioplasty on 5/31/13. The surgery went well. I had some pain that evening after the surgery, but nothing like I expected. With all three procedures, I was anticipating excruciating pain but that was not the case. There is some discomfort but everyday it gets better. I am taking it slow but doing a lot on my own. Dr. Boraski was a wonderful surgeon and has great bed side manners. My scars are still very red and the areas are still very swollen. I am happy I did it even without knowing the end results of my scars which was the biggest reason I had not done the procedure before now!!

tell me about the brachioplasty! where and how bad was your hernia? is that where more of your pain is?

The brachioplasty was uncomfortableable but tolerable. The hardest thing for me is trying to figure out which way is the best way to keep my arms prop!! Lol My hernia was between my breast cage and my navel abt the size of a lemon. I had pain from the hernia for only the first two days. Honestly, this surgery was better than I expected n that's probably because I prepared for the worst. I almost worried myself sick thinking of the pain.

I'm having hernia repair with my TT as well. Would you mind sharing what type of hernia, or maybe better to ask location? I'm nervous they won't be able to find mine. Thanks!

gittyup, how do you know you have a hernia?did you have pain and see a doctor who told you it was a hernia? where was that pain? the surgeon doing the hernia repair should know where it is if he diagnosed it. hernias are palpable. when the PS makes the incision in the lower ab, above the pubic region, that is lifted upward as a flap, it reveals the omentum layer(fat layer) and the muscle underneath it. then the surgeon goes to where he palpated the hernia(dictated in his notes, now in your chart,) and can do the repair. it is not hard to find a hole once that flap is lifted upwards.if you saw a steak, and it had a hole or defect in the steak, you would see it easily. it is not one piece of smooth fiber. do not be concerned, he will find it. did they tell you it was right or left upper quadrant or lower quadrant....or umbilical hernia(belly button hernia), ? what caused the hernia? was it as a result of a previous surgery or giving birth?these answers tell me where it could be. i am surprised they did not give you this information, but call them and ask. you should know what they are doing to your body. if it will not put you off, look on yutube for videos of tummy tuck.there is one in which you see him lift the flap then cut out huge section of skin with fat attached.you see muscle. you see them sew it.do not do it if seeing it will freak you out. you might cancel. but if you can watch, you will see how they will find the hernia location easily.

My hernia was between my breast cage and my navel abt the size of a lemon. It was an incisional hernia that protruded out. It was very noticeable. I do understand about being nervous as my surgery date got closer, I couldn't sleep. I was so scared that morning i thought they would tell me my pressure was too high to do the surgery. But it's over and done and I'm happy that I finally did it. I'm just waiting for the swelling to go down and just being able to do my normal routine. Good luck with yours. When is your surgery date?

After trying to hide the loose skin and hated going sleeveless, I decided to look into the brachioplasty. I was on this site and other sites looking at pictures everywhere I can find them trying to accept the scars. I think I finally put it in my head no matter the scars I wanted to have it done. I have no regrets. Even with the compression garments on my arms I can see how smaller they are looking. However. the bruises are very red and I am praying that in time the scar is very minimal.
