Neocutis Lumiere Illuminating Eye Cream - I jumped at the chance

UPDATED FROM drcblp

Final update for trial (but will continue to use the product and occasionally update)

$97
Well, it has been 4 weeks and we have reached the end of my trial of Neocutis Lumiere eye cream. I wanted to give my official opinions after this month-long trial, but I plan on continuing to use the product until it is empty (and I will update again after that).
Overall, I think I'm still unsure of the efficacy of the product. If I had to choose either "Worth It" or "Not Worth It" right at this point, I think I would have to say "Not Worth It" based solely on its price tag of $97. Reasons:
-For a person who barely spends money on drug-store quality products, $97 is a WHOLE LOT OF CASH. If I were to spend that regularly, I would expect DRAMATIC results, and I just didn't see that.
I have included before and after side-by-side photos from Day 1 and Day 28. I do believe I see slight improvements in my under-eye area. I think the skin looks a little brighter, and I also think there are fewer fine lines. However, I was really hoping to eliminate dark circles, and if anything I think my circles are worse. (To be fair- I worked soooo much this month that the dark circles could be more from exhaustion than the product failing).
My skin DOES feel much smoother and more hydrated. The product is very silky and clean, and I enjoy how it makes my face feel. For that reason (and for the sake of science) I DO plan on continuing the product until it is empty.

I hope this review helps people make informed decisions on the purchase of this product. I've been excited to follow along with others in this trial to see their experiences as well. Please comment if you have any questions or if this review was useful!

Two Weeks In

Hello again! I'm updating my review with pictures at the two-week mark of my trial of Neocutis Lumiere eye cream. Because of my schedule, I'm actually about a week delayed in writing this post (did someone say 90-hour work week this past week?) but the pictures WERE taken at 14 days. Again, they were taken at night under same lighting conditions as my "before" pics.

Midway point opinions:
Still unsure at this point.
Pros:
-I love the way the cream feels. Smooth, silky, hydrating but not greasy
-It feels like I still have a LOT of product left in the bottle. I'm not sure how long they expect a bottle to last, but it feels like there's plenty there to make it WELL past my month trial.
-The bottle itself works perfectly still. Sometimes pumps on bottles seem ineffective or deliver inappropriate amounts but this is functional 100% of the time with just the right size of product delivered each time
-Good for my skin type; I haven't noticed any breakouts or increased redness, which often happens when I try new products

Cons:
-I know it's only been two weeks, but I haven't noticed any real significant difference in my under-eye appearance. Still bags and fine wrinkles. I also have been working a ridiculous amount during this time period so maybe it's not a very fair assessment?
-The price still. If I continue to not see a noticeable improvement, I probably would NOT spend that amount of money on a new bottle next time.

Our official reviewing period ends December 6 (I think??) which will be a total of 4 weeks trial for me (remember, I'm a week delayed on my posts) so I will update again at that time. But I will probably continue to use this bottle until it is empty to give it a TRUE, full-length evaluation. I will continue to review it on here as well with updated pictures throughout that time.

ORIGINAL POST

Neocutis Lumiere Illuminating Eye Cream

I recently had the opportunity to trial Neocutis Lumiere eye cream. I received the cream exactly one week ago today and I would like to share my initial experiences with the product (it's been a very busy week or else I would have immediately started my review).

A little about me:

Mid 30s, medical professional, working anywhere between 60-90 hours a week. Fairly new to facial skin care products.

I rarely wear makeup. I never wear it to work and only if I'm going out to a social event do I even try to put on anything. I use a daily drugstore facial moisturizer with SPF 15. I wash my face usually with just water in the mornings, or body wash in the shower (I know, I know...). On the rare occasion I do use makeup, I use a rice water rinse or organic facial cleanser to remove it (again, that is very rare). I'm getting to the age where I probably need to start focusing more on my skin, as I'm starting to see new lines/wrinkles and the bags under my eyes are becoming much more noticeable. Working long stressful hours certainly aren't helping!

So when the opportunity to trial an illuminating eye cream arose, I jumped at the chance. My ultimate goal at this point is to just be able to continue NOT using under eye makeup for now :-) If there is a product that exists that allows me to do so, I'll buy it!

I will update in another week (2 week point) about my current opinions on the product, but today's review will be before-photos and initial impressions of the product before use.

*BEFORE-PHOTO NOTES: All photos will be taken under similar time-of-day and lighting conditions. However, (full-disclosure) these photos were taken after a long day of work; I had also already worked approximately 50 hours that work-week. So- my eye bags might be a LITTLE more noticeable than on other occasions. However, these work hours aren't out-of-the-ordinary so my eyes probably do look like this by the end of many work weeks! :-)

Initial product opinions-

Pros:

-Beautiful packaging. The box in which the product came was clean and professional-looking (I wish I remembered to take a photo of it but I didn't). The product itself comes in a cute aqua bottle that looks and feels solid and substantial. I believe the product size is actually only 0.5 fl oz (15ml) so I don't know how much the bottle masks the amount of the product though.....

-Easy dispenser. After just a couple pumps, the bottle began dispensing product and since has continued to dispense (what I assume to be) an appropriate amount of product each time

-The texture and consistency of the cream feels very luxurious. It spreads easily and absorbs quickly, without feeling greasy or heavy

-Can be used under makeup and with other moisturizer products

Cons:

-INSTRUCTIONS. Obviously it's an eye cream so it's not THAT hard to figure it out, but the product's instructions consist only of: "Apply once or twice daily to the skin area surrounding the eye, or follow the recommendations of your skin professional." It does not suggest appropriate amount of cream to use or WHERE around the eye it should be used. I know other creams are meant to be used just below the eye and not on upper eyelids too, but this product didn't specify location so I've been using it on the under-eye, crow's feet, and a tiny bit around brow bone/crease of the upper eye. THIS MIGHT BE WRONG!

Also, upon further investigation, the company suggests "Avoid rubbing. Apply product in a dabbing or patting motion to maximize results." This is not actually stated on the bottle itself however. I have been using a patting motion since finding these instructions.

Finally, again, only after checking the product's website, did I see any instructions on use with other facial products. The site suggests to use Neocutis Lumiere with a daily moisturizer in the morning and a restorative facial cream at night. Since I'm so low-key product-wise, I've just continued with my regular morning moisturizer with SPF (+ this product) and nothing besides the Neocutis at night.

Again, the above pros/cons are just my initial opinions upon receiving the product. I plan on updating at the 2-week mark with current opinions on the cream and some midpoint-of-the-trial photos.

Please follow along and comment with opinions or tips if you have tried this product yourself!

I received this complimentary treatment through the RealSelf Insider program.
