Wedding Ready Results!
WORTH IT
After doing initial research on plastic surgeons in the Bay Area, I had my first meeting with Dr Arunkumar in late August of 2025. During this visit we discussed my desire for a neck lift to address a hereditary soft neck profile and jaw line, loose skin from repeated weight loss and gain, and poor skin laxity. My case also came with additional complications based on a constellation of ailments stemming from Hypermobile Elhers Danlos Syndrome which affects my connective tissue.
During this visit Dr A took great care to make me feel heard and to understand my desired outcome along with my timeline (based on my upcoming wedding in October 2026). He walked me through the incisions and provided examples of previous surgeries. The scarring only detectable if you really squinted your eyes and knew what you were looking for. The results looked natural and fell in line with my desired outcome.
He was honest with me as well and mentioned to have the best outcome, I would also need a lower face lift (I had early jowling around my chin) to ensure the look I wanted and avoid a strong contrast between the neck and jawline. He was also frank with me that given my skin laxity issues from my medical condition, the longevity of my surgical outcomes would not be as long as someone without my condition, which I appreciated him tailoring the outcomes to help me better set my expectations if I was going to spend the money on surgery.
His team was well informed and walked me through the pricing. Having received quotes from other surgeons, this pricing fell within my expectations and given Dr. A’s experience in NY, I felt like I was getting a very knowledgable surgeon at a fair price.
Our next meeting was our pre-op appointment in December and it was clear that Dr. A had done even more research into my condition and wanted to ensure the best surgical outcomes for me. I never felt rushed and appreciated the time he took to answer my questions, no matter how silly.
For my surgery, since it was over the holidays, I had surgery at the Walnut Creek surgery center. While I don’t remember much of the day, Dr A took the time to answer my fiancé’s questions and emphasized we would see a lot of him for post-surgical care in the coming days.
While I was initially anxious about my outcomes coming out of surgery (even with Dr. A warning me - I would have some extra stitches to ensure things were extra secure post-surgery given my condition), my anxieties quickly dissipated as the swelling and bruising reduced in the coming days and with each subsequent visit.
As of this week, I’m about 4 1/2 months out from my surgery date and I am tremendously happy with the outcome so far and it’s exactly the look I wanted for my upcoming wedding.
