One year post surgery
WORTH IT$7,499
A friend recently had a facial procedure done by Dr. Harley and she asked me all the pre-op/post-op questions that I asked others on Real Self. A huge thank you to everyone for providing invaluable information about surgery and supportive, realistic expectations. One year post-op and the small scars around the ears are invisible; the numbness by the earlobes is gone. The subtle changes have made a significant impact. Each birthday is a gift and aging doesn't have to include jowls and a crepey neck. Thank you to Dr. Harley and his wonderful staff of professionals.

Jackie,
Be confident and don't let nerves overtake your thoughts. You have already made an informed decision that probably took years. Now you need to find ways to stay relaxed and confident! I found it helpful to imagine how joyful I would be when my jawline was without jowls and neck without puckered skin. Lots of upbeat songs helped too (Tina Turner and Joplin). Can't wait to hear from you.

Thank you for your post. How was your recovery? Was your recovery really painful?
Thank you
Thank you
I’ll be flying to Dr. H alone. I’ll be staying nearby but wonder if I should have nursing care for the first night. What’s your feeling on that after your experience? You look marvelous!
I am so grateful to you for posting a 1year follow up! I think that's the only remaining question many of us have: Looks good at 6 weeks, how does it hold up? Your case is a great piece of the answer to that!

Four months post surgery
The decision to have a neck lift with Dr. Harley was one I will forever appreciate. At no point before, during or after the produre did I have doubts. As mentioned earlier, there was no pain. Swelling and bruising, yes. But I didn't take anything stronger then OTC pain medication ( and used a lot of bags of frozen corn to help reduce swelling). Plus, I followed Dr.Harley's instructions to sleep with my head elevated (which was challenging for a life-long side sleeper). One additional benefit of his pre op instructions is that I continued with making fresh pineapple and blueberry smoothies.

How long did you sleep with your head elevated? This could prove to be the most challenging aspect for me.
You look absolutely fabulous
I agree! This post makes me want to take a road trip to North Carolina!
Molly, there must be 20 plastic surgeons within a 2 mile radius of my house. I am so grateful to the folks on RS for descibing their positive experiences with Dr. Harley in NC. The 3 hour drive to Asheville was beautiful and the city is very easy to navigate. Dr. Dr. Harley's staff are exceptional. I actually drove back for fillers in lieu of going to any number of providers two blocks from my house!
Awwwwh, thanks Mint Julep. This procedure has given me back a neck and jawline that actually look like a part of my body (rather than a melting marshmallow).
Hi! You look wonderful. Was it a deep plane neck lift? Did he perform platysmaplasty as well?
I’m really impressed with your results. You look great! I’m having the same issues you were and am considering this Dr. Did you buy a wedge to sleep on and how long do you feel you needed to sleep on it? Did you have any drains to deal with and trouble showering afterward?

Post op neck lift day 4
Beautiful kaleidoscope bruising reveal on day 4. The swelling gravitates between the temples and ear. Day 4 was when the neck area began to feel very tight (probably because of the swelling). All in all, I never was in pain or discomfort. Remarkable. Love my jowless jawline.

Hi there, how are you feeling now? You look amazing and I’m convinced he’s the best! Thank you for sharing, my appointment with Dr. Harley is on sept12th Yippeee!
Just follow the instructions regarding pre and post op, get into a calm frame of mind and you'll be prepared! I returned to work 2 weeks after surgery and not one person asked if "had cosmetic surgery" but everyone commented on how refreshed I looked. Success. The swelling mid face is gone however there is mild numbness still near the ear lobes. I'm eager to hear about your experience.
Did all your swearing subside yet/
Swelling*
Yes, the swelling diminished a few weeks post surgery. I returned to work 2 weeks post surgery and although I saw the swelling (mainly by the cheeks) no one else did. The numbness by my earlobes and chin incision slowly diminished. It has been four months post surgery and there are thumb print sized numb areas by the ear lobe. As for noticeable scars, there aren't any! I am in awe of Dr. Harley's skills everyday that i read about the surgery redo's or complications posted by others. Best decision i made was to have the lower face lift performed.
Thank you for your review. How are things looking?
