Smile Direct Club - Closing My Gap!

I have been doing research on what Smile Direct Club (SDC) has to offer and I came across this website. I wanted to document my journey thus far and let anyone else who is considering trying SDC out know what to expect.

I started my journey with SDC at the beginning of this year, January?, and have attempted twice to get my impressions correct. They will send you in the mail a kit that allows you to do your own teeth impressions at home and then you mail them back. If you did a good job they will create a plan to fix your smile. This took two attempts for me over a long 6 month period of time. Note: it was my fault that it took so long for me to send the second kit back to get approved, the time it took to get my kit both times was very fast on their part.

About a week ago my impressions were approved and they have since created a 4 month plan for me to close the gap in the front of my teeth and correct the alignment on the bottom. I do have a few concerns that I have reached out to SDC about.

1. In closing my top teeth gap, they are pulling my bite back and some of my top teeth look like they are going to be slanted forward. I'm not sure if this is something to worry about or not.

2. In closing my top gap it looks like it is going to create a new gap behind each of my canines.

I am expected to receive my aligners in the next 4 weeks.

We strive to give our customer's the best possible outcome while using our invisible aligners to get you the Smile you deserve. Our aligners do not move molars, we use your molars to manipulate movement in other teeth therefore a gap behind the canines can be normal when a gap in the front is being closed. We do not use attachments such as rubber bands or buttons to move teeth therefore some movement is not within SmileDirectClub's product specifications. We hope you are as excited as we are to start this journey with you to a whiter, brighter, straighter smile :) If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-651-5210.

These gaps are not behind the canines. They are in front the canines. Your comment is incorrect.

Shouldn't that be disclosed FIRST!

Addressed Concerns With Another Gap

CBach09
Over the past few days, I have been back and forth with the support over email with concerns of another gap that looks to be created outside of my front 4 top teeth. I have attached an image of what I am talking about, and have reached out with a few response.
Unfortunately, I am unhappy with the response I have received thus far but I am still trying to see what I can work out. SDC support has informed me that this is the plan that best fits my needs based on their dental experts and if I were to want this gap addressed I would have to seek a network outside of SDC.
Now, ?this doesn't seem right to me, so I am digging deeper and will let everyone know how it turns out. If anyone comes across this I would love to hear if they have had anything similar and what steps were taken to address this.

I am going through this exact thing right now. The whole reason I want to start treatment is to get rid of my gap in the exact place yours is in on the upper side. I filled out the questionnaire and explained that it was my main concern. They created my treatment plan and over 4 months the gap actually gets worse! I am still waiting on a response about it.

Wow, the gap gets worse? As you can see in my pictures they are able to close the main gap, which I love, but it puts gaps on either side. My main concern was that with a smile it would be visible from the sides when not looking at me dead on. I am still waiting for my aligners to be shipped before I can start my treatment.

I'm curious, what exactly does the 4 month plan they gave you look like?

Did you decide to move forward with the treatment ? Did they alter the plan at all for you? I too have a gap and they just create another gap with the treatment plan.

I did decide to proceed with the treatment, the gap was moved to the outside of my top front 4 teeth. What I did was join an SDC members group and also reached out to SDC to see what they said about it. Based on others outcomes with similar gaps as mine, I was confident enough to move forward. I am currently on M1W1 Day 3 and I can't way to provide updates along the way so you and others can feel confident to move forward.

That's great news! Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Is the group you're talking about the FB group?

After seeing yours, I went back and looked at my 3D model. From all angles I didn't see the new little gaps before the canines until AFTER turning the model at a slight angle. I had already started treatment so I'll see how it goes and update on it.

I am in the same boat as you are. I have been wearing invisaligners for just over a year now (was supposed to wear for 6 months). The initial 6 months created some horrible gaps in my teeth and the refinement period that followed was delayed due to their slow response and did not correct the problem. So another delay as I waited for another refinement and my teeth still looked worse than whe I started invisaligners. So for this last refinement, one of their so called dental professionals said that she would work closely with me for the remainder of my treatment but I am at the last week of my 3rd refinement period, my teeth are still not straight and when I contacted she sent me an email stating she moved to a different department and cannot help me. She referred me back to customer care who doesn’t appear to know anything about my case and I am back to square one over a year after starting invisaligners and still not happy. I am considering legal action because I am fed up with this process. I would advise anyone and everyone to see a dentist you can actually See and talk to.

We're concerned to see this, and we hope you'll reach out via DM to discuss directly. We would like to confirm that our dental professionals are all dentists or orthodontists licensed in providing aligner treatment in the state of the customer they're treating. We have an amazing dental team that would be happy to assist with any clinical concerns.

What is DM? Please let me know how I can discuss this directly. If you cannot do that then please let me know how to contact your CEO or legal dept.
