I wanted to add volume to my cheeks through...

I wanted to add volume to my cheeks through filler, and I wanted a small amount Botox for my forehead wrinkles only. I'd had minimal filler in my cheeks once before and liked the results, but it emphasized the natural asymmetry of my face. Through research, I learned that this is part of the artistry of your practitioner, so I shopped around and went to three different places before I selected Vanderbilt Cosmetic Dermatology. I had also done Botox before, liked the results on wrinkles, but didn't like how my eyebrows dropped and lost their natural arch. This doctor assured me that he could do minimal Botox without dropping my brows. He suggested using Juvaderm in my tear trough areas and cheeks, which surprised me because other practitioners had said tear troughs are tricky and not the best way to go. Dr. Stebbins insisted that as a doctor, and not just some spa employee, he could achieve perfect results. I cannot emphasize enough to you all that just because someone is a doctor, it does not mean they have experience or the artful eye that is needed for these type of procedures. People who practice in day spas may even be superior because filler and Botox is all they do, all day. My doctor said he usually worked on skin cancer patients, and I now think this may have been a liability, not an asset. He completely over-Botoxed my forehead, and made the drooping of my brows even more pronounced than last time. My forehead feels completely dead, I can't raise my eyebrows, which I now realize is one of the main ways I express my self! Smooth? Yes. More frozen than Nicole Kidman? Definitely. Dr. Stebbins then added filler directly above the orbital bones of my eye sockets. This left bumps, and actually emphasized the hollows under my eyes. I have no idea why he put filler there, it isn't in the tear trough and it didn't soften the area. Then he added the leftover filler into what he called an acne scar on my cheek as kind of an afterthought. It wasn't a spot that had bothered me, but it is now pronounced and asymmetrical. The rest of the filler in my cheeks did add some volume, but for the money I spent, I wish I would've had filler only in my cheeks. I went back so he could look at the lumps under my eyes, but he downplayed their prominence and wanted me to wait before using the injection to dissolve filler.

Dr. Stebbins seemed defensive when I returned with concerns about the bumps under my eyes. I decided to go elsewhere.
