When I first came to Dr. Constantian I presented...
When I first came to Dr. Constantian I presented with a completely collapsed, deformed nose, with horrible deep red raised scarring on the tip and also outside scarring all over my nose, with a large slit in my skin. I felt hopeless and did not think anything could be done.
I previously had a rhinoplasty at age 16 for a broken nose and deviated septum. There was not an aesthetic improvement but no big problems from that surgery, either. Twenty years later on a routine ENT appointment, the doctor indicated my breathing was severely compromised with turbinate defects, and he recommended surgery. I went to another doctor for a second opinion, and this diagnosis was confirmed. I figured if I was going to have surgery on my nose, it made sense to go to a plastic surgeon who could not only fix my structural problems, but could also help me to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing result.
I went to a very prominent, well-known plastic surgeon, who assured me this would be a very straightforward procedure and that he was entirely confident of an excellent outcome. However, what happened was the complete opposite. The surgeon left me with a collapsed nose that was not only structurally deformed on the inside but also terribly scarred on the outside of my skin. I was practically unrecognizable. On top of all this, my breathing was markedly worse than it was prior to having the surgery.
Cut to my hero. I am going to sound like a sycophant, but I cannot ever express the undying gratitude and love that I have for Dr. Constantian and his whole staff.
He never promised me the world except to say that it was going to get better: no flowery words, no wild promises, but rather deep compassion and total professionalism. My skin had been so badly brutalized with large amounts of raised scarring, unhealed red scarring, and structural collapse that Dr. Constantian knew right away that it would not be possible to correct everything in a single surgery. He laid out a plan that consisted of 2 to possibly 3 surgeries and spent an enormous amount of time with my family and me, from the first consultation to each visit thereafter.
It is now the end of a nearly 3 year journey and I have had 3 surgeries with Dr. Constantian. Externally, he excised all of the scarred skin so that I now have a single uniform scar that is imperceptible. Internally, he managed to build up my distorted, collapsed nose to give it shape and symmetry from the front and a beautiful profile from both sides. My first hope was simply to have a normal-looking non-distorted nose, and yet what Dr. Constantian gave me has so far exceeded this that I consider it nothing short of a miracle. I now not only have a “normal” appearing nose but an actual chiseled, lovely-looking, nose that perfectly fits my face. I look like me; like the version of myself that I should look like. My family is beyond overjoyed as well and they also express such gratitude toward this kind, compassionate, brilliant doctor. On top of being thrilled with how my nose looks, my breathing is also now wonderful in both nostrils!
Every step of the way was made very easy on me by Dr. Constantian and his wonderful staff. There were no surprises as far as costs, and each recovery was routine. I had many pre- and post-operative appointments because Dr. Constantian needed to monitor me very closely, and yet I was never charged for these multiple visits even though he spent a great deal of time with me.
Dr. Constantian is a true artist and healer, and the very definition of a consummate physician. He is supremely kind and compassionate and always focuses on what is best for his patients. Saying “thank you” hardly seems adequate, but my most heartfelt THANK YOU and deepest gratitude will forever be extended to Dr. Constantian. He has absolutely done nothing short of giving me my life back.
