9 Weeks

It’s getting easier every day now. I dont think about it too much; unless, I touch the side of my face, by my ears, and then I remember it because it’s still slightly numb. When I sleep on my side, my ears feel like they are mostly back to normal. When I massage them the feeling seems to resurface. My smile is about 85% back. There is still a little droop of my lower left lip that I notice only when I brush my teeth now. There is a a little tightness left under my chin but i hardly notice it unless I think about it. I can still see some residual swelling behind the chin implant on the left side; but the left side of my face has lagged behind the whole journey. (My husband doesn’t notice anything at all.) I feel a pea sized knot in my left cheek, along with some lumpiness, but it seems to be dissipating with time. It’s still a little sore when I massage it.
I continue to be very happy with my surgery and with Dr. Agarwal. My confidence is restored, and I no longer feel self-conscious about my neck. I will be seeing him again in March and I will be looking forward to scheduling more aesthetics with him, and his team, later this year.

Getting There ???? 6 Weeks

I’m feeling so much better! Sensations are returning more and more to my neck, ears, and side of my face. I am very happy with my lift! I love my neck again. I couldn’t be happier with it! My face and chin are coming along nicely as well. My left cheek still has some bruising and some lumpiness. I’ve been massaging it, and it really does help to restore the flexibility of my face muscles.
The swelling under my chin has finally started going down. I made an appointment with Dr. Agarwal, last week, and he injected a steroid to reduce the swelling. I can see a big difference now. I really love the look the implant is giving me.
My mouth muscles are also getting better. I’m feeling more flexibility and movement in my lower lip. It’s hard to tell unless I smile real big or brush my teeth.
I’ll be back in a week or so.

One Month

Recovery is long. While you can get back to work and normal routine soon enough, your body ultimately dictates how long it will take to heal. I’m feeling lots better physically. My left side of face and neck is still swollen and feels tighter when I purse my lips like I’m going to kiss. It’s still bruised and discolored. More and more sensation has returned to my neck and under the chin where the swelling is most pronounced.
Now that I’m not as sensitive to the touch, I’m massaging with coconut oil in an upwards motion to help with swelling and to smooth out any lumps and bruising. I’m exercising my facial and mouth muscles and it seems to be helping with the tight areas.
My full smile has yet to return on the left side. It’s also tighter and hasn’t relaxed like the right side. I don’t like this; however, it seems to happen quite often during this type of procedure, so I’m going to try not to think about it too much. I will let the healing take its course and visit my doctor at the three month mark.
