My second child is 6 months old and at my 12 week post-postpartum appointment was told by my OB that my stomach would not go down anymore(still look 5 months pregnant). He said that I had severe diastis recti and only surgery could fix it. After meeting with 5 plastic surgeons I decided to move forward with Dr. Hasen. A CT scan was taken that did show an umbilical hernia as well so a general surgeon will repair that first and Dr. Hasen will then perform a tummy tuck and liposuction of the flanks and lower back. I have lost all of the baby weight and just want a flat stomach again.

I'm in the same boat, though my youngest is almost 4! I have been able to close my gap partially with MuTu exercises

I wasn't done!! As I was saying, the exercises helped, but I still have the loose skin! Did any of your PS consults say they would fix the hernia and do the tummy tuck themselves? Or did all want a general surgeon to repair the hernia with them?

I so wish I could just do the exercises but it's so severe and now with the hernia I'm at risk of strangulation so have to do it. Dr. Hasen was the only doc that felt the umbilical hernia! He was going to repair it but the catscan showed it was very severe so he felt it would b best for a general surgeon to take that part. Insurance covers the hernia repair so we do end up saving 3k on the total surgery.

Good to know. I haven't had my consults yet, but this will help me prepare. Thank you.

I would definitely request a catscan be done. It took 5 docs to get to that point and see how bad my hernia was. I kept saying I was in pain but they told me that diastasis doesn't cause pain and they did not feel a hernia.

Amazing doctor!!! After having my second child I had severe diastis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) and an umbilical hernia. I went to 5 plastic surgeons for opinions and Dr. Hasen was by far the best! His staff is friendly and helpful. His patient care coordinator, Marie, answered all my questions after my visit and coordinated everything with the general surgeon who repaired my hernia. I had a tummy tuck and liposuction of the flanks and lower back. Dr. Hasen was very open to conducting my procedure in a day surgery center with the other surgeon which some other doctors are not flexible with. I was very nervous about this surgery and I felt they held my hand the entire way. I'm 2 weeks post-op right now and he definitely exceeded my expectations! The day after surgery I was thrilled and each day it looks better as swelling is going down. The recovery has been a lot easier than I expected as well (better than a c-section). His technique is so different and I feel this helped making the recovery easier. He does additional suturing so no drains are needed and uses a nerve block that keeps you pain free the first 72 hours. During those first three days I only had to take Tylenol and Motrin for pain. I can not say enough great things about Dr. Hasen, Marie, and the rest of his staff! I will definitely be going back in the future. Highly recommend him!

Would love to see pics and who the general surgeon was that repaired your hernia.
This surgery will do the trick. You will get your old tummy back so no worries. Those babies destroy our tummies...LOL
Help is on the way.
