Hello all! My surgery date is fast approaching and I thought this day would never come. It was a battle trying to get insurance to cover it, even though I have an extensive medical history with back pain and neck issues, also chronic headaches. 4 months later they gave in and I'm covered! My pre-op was this past Monday and my surgeon, who I love, made me feel pretty at ease and answered all of my questions. However, this being my first real major surgery and first time with general anesthesia (not like twilight for wisdom teeth extractions) I am nervous. Any pointers or advice would really be helpful. I figured us ladies are all in this together right? Thanks!

Hi! My surgeon didn't suggest any cream or tablets. I have so many zip ups I'm covered in that area. I'm excited/ nervous. The drains will probably irk me. She said I would be off work for a week. Having surgery on a Tuesday so I'm going back the following Monday. I have a desk job and sit down all day so I'll be fine. The drains will be out by then. :)

Oh wow! That's so fast return to work. I'm a flight attendant so I'll need at least three weeks. Are you getting drains w the little drain bag? My drains won't have a bag the end. I wasn't expecting that so I'm happy I won't have to dump the Drains. Just got to keep changing the gauze. I'm excited and really hopeful. Super ready to get rid of these giant floppy bags. Had em since I was 13

I have a desk job hence why I can go back so quickly lol. I'm getting the trains with the little "hand grenades" at the end. I have to monitor them and keep track on how much fluid I'm losing the more the better. I'm almost hitting that one week mark and I'm anxious!

its painless. You will be bandaged but those come off in a day or two. Do wear a bra to retain the perky little breasts you will have. Happy for you.

Regarding your anesthesia fears, I had the same issue. Years ago I was in a car accident where I was thrown from the car and it landed on me. Before I hit a light post on the freeway I made my peace with dying. I woke up startled with the car on me. After that I have avoided anything that put me under like the plague. I avoided doctors because I was afraid they would make me go under. I lived with bunion pain for years just so I wouldn't have to be anesthetized. I finally was in so much pain I went in. My surgeon is a great guy and eased my nerves. He explained what it was like to go under and he said....you know really...you are more monitored from harm during anesthesia than you are walking around not monitored. Since then I have had two surgeries and feel really confident now about the process. They only talk about the cases that have problems the way they do about plane crashes. More people survive than die or have issues. You just need to relax and trust the process and the anesthesiologist. You will be fine. It will be a blur and you may panic but if you are with someone who can keep you calm during the anesthesia you will ace it.

5 days to go!
My surgery is fast approaching. With just 5 days left I am realizing there's much to do! I need to fill my prescriptions (antibiotics and pain killers) so I have those at the ready. Make sure my fridge is fully stocked and pantries have food! Does anyone have any other ideas of what I need to do? I'm still freaking out about the drains. Trying to find out I can probably wear those with clothes lol.

Lots to do!!
I'm freaking. I have so much to do to prep for this surgery not to mention working today and Monday to prep for my week out. I'm trying not to stress and trying not to think of the surgery. It'll all be worth it in the end! My mom was here for a brief visit beforehand and I got the dreaded 4 words "You're not THAT big". Yes Mom I hide it well. Sigh. It's hard for others to understand the daily struggle. Here's to a happier me!!

People would say that to me all the time! It's so annoying because they aren't the ones who have to deal and live with it. Hope everything goes well with your surgery! So excited for you. Just had mine done and I'm already in love with my new body :)

Awesome! How many weeks post op are you? I'm nervous about tomorrow but I think more excited. Pain is temporary the results are forever!

This is why I had chosen to tell only a very select few about my surgery prior. Including my own mother. I am 12 days post op, and I just told her the other day. I avoided all negativity beforehand, because I was so nervous and I didn't want any more pressure to back out. Was the best thing I've done!! Good luck!
I'm Getting excited how about you?
Did you buy Arnica cream and tablets? Don't forget to get button down and zipper shirts for poat surgery.
How long did your doc Say you need off ? I'm still unsure about how Lng I need off
