Big Tummy Pouch After 3 Kids - Naperville, IL

After 3 kids, I have a huge tummy that I can't seem to get rid of as you can see by my pictures. Chasing around 3 kids, doesn't leave a ton of time or motivation for exercise, but I am pretty active with them and eat a good diet, which helps in other areas of my body, just not the tummy. I turned 40 this year and decided its finally time to do something about it. The cosmetic surgery place by me had a Cool Sculpting demo day where you could buy 3 areas and get a 4th area for free, so I decided to bite the bullet and go for it!

On 12/1/14, I had the love handles and lower abdomen done. It was an hour for each side and the lower ab, plus 1 hour of prep/ after wards, so a total of 4 hours. I'm going back in 4 weeks for the 2nd lower ab treatment and upper abdomen. While the love handles wasn't great - it felt like a huge clamp on my sides, it was bearable, but whoa! the lower abdomen packed a wallop! I have a high pain tolerance, but this had me holding the sides of the bed for about 10 minutes. Then, as with the sides, it becomes numb and you don't feel anything. I was working when the love handles were done, but you have to lay down for the lower ab, so no more working. After the treatment, the area was really cold and as it started to heat up, it hurt a little, kind of like when you come in after playing in the snow.
That went away after a few minutes. The massage afterwards was not fun, but necessary so you don't have a big block of butter where you got the treatment.

It is Day 4 after and it feels a little weird, like numb on the surface, but maybe bruised underneath? I am still waiting for the prickliness that most people say they got on Day 5. The day right after, I was walking around and my whole tummy jiggled around, prob from the swelling, but hope its bc the treatment got all the fat up and taking it away! I really had little discomfort with this, the only bad thing was when my little ones would crawl on me or try to hug me, but other than that, it hasn't been bad painwise. I am really hoping this works, but I feel very optimistic!

Ouch, that looks and sounds painful. Thank you for sharing, I am excited to see your results.

I might be getting done too at Dr. Rubach's office in Naperville. Would like to hear from others who have had it done and know the results.

Was a good experience! Pam did the whole treatment and she was great about explaining everything that she was doing and making sure that I was comfortable before she got started. Then, once the treatment began, she made sure that I was feeling OK and that it was bearable.

What area did you have done and are you seeing results yet? I am going to wait till more info comes out. I know some respond and some don't so i don't want to chance that I might be one who doesn't respond. I hope you have good results!!

I don't have any pictures yet, i was actually holding off on trying to compare before and after pics until I go back in Feb to have the doctors do the side by side compare. i don't want to make myself crazy comparing too much until enough time has passed. I did go in for a 2nd round right after Christmas. I did the lower abs again and the upper abs for the first time. I was much more prepared with little things like books to pass the time, slippers to keep my feet warm, etc. I thought that the lower abs would be the hard part like the first time I went in, but whoa! the upper abs were painful. Not painful during the process, it was in the week afterwards that it was very sensitive. Shooting pains as the nerves were coming back, a little bruising and just plain tenderness, which actually woke me up some nights and it is right at the height where my little ones would go in for a hug, so I was hurting for about a week or so. I will say that I have lost about 3 1/2 pounds since my first session, but whether it is from the cool sculpting or just being more active, I can't say for sure, however, I haven't really stepped up my exercise routine, so I'm going to give the cool sculpting the credit. Visibly, I do feel like I notice a difference, so I'm hoping for even more as more weeks go by. We will see when I go in, in a few weeks and i will post pics then! good luck to you!

I went to the Dr office to get some "after" pictures on March 4, which was about 14 weeks after my first session and almost 10 weeks after my second session. To be honest, i could barely see a difference and I'm so disappointed. In the upper abs, I could see a very slight change in the contour, but nothing else. In fact, the pictures looked almost identical and you had to be really looking for a difference. Initially, I had lost a few lbs and I thought I could see some difference, but I guess the pictures don't lie. I really wanted this to be successful, esp given the cost and the discomfort after. I have an appt to go back in 2 weeks, bc they wanted to give a few more weeks to see if there would be a difference. If not, they said they would talk about other options, although I don't think I will go through it again.

Hi, yes it was.
March 23, 2015
I do like him and Pam but was leery of getting the procedure done because I have read that some people do not respond. I know I probably would be in that group so didn't have anything done...I know the dr is great and Pam gives great facials etc..but maybe the cool sculpting isn't such a good thing? I would let the dr know and Pam and see if they can do something to make up for spending all that money. Still hoping you see improvement though... Keep us posted.

I am supposed to go back in to see him and Pam in 2 weeks. I do wonder if what they would suggest, bc I don't see myself doing this procedure again. The pain was not worth it, esp without results. I will keep you updated. Did you decide to do a different procedure? I just want something that would work without a ton of down time.

I have small saddlebags and more than that I would like skin tightened. I am 63 but I do Pilates, yoga, the Barre Method and am good weight. I have always worked out and walked, etc. I also have small pouch from hysterectomy. But I am not young and would settle for skin to just be like tightened~~lifted or something, and if i could get thighs fixed, i would but not that big of a deal to me. I think I am going to wait and see and ask dr next time i go in there for injection orif there is something like a radiofrequency treatment (something like thermage but worked)that i could get but then I would really read about it too. Besides all that pain you went through, laying there for all that time..let them know that wasn't fun either. I know we want noninvasive and not a lot of down time.. we want easy, cheap...and for it to work..I had told Pam about reading this a long time ago..It is good that we have this so we can get info on all this...I am waiting for one of their specials again on facials, etc and I will be going there! Take care, it is maybe possible that everything hasn't melted yet for you??? They freeze it...

UGH, I did it to and I wouldn't recommend it. Is expensive and painful post treatment.

I wouldn't do thermage. I did that for some sagging skin on my belly after having kids and it did absolutely nothing. I also eat healthy and exercise regularly.
April 30, 2015
I just saw/read about thermitight rf..that looks like that might be a good thing..interesting

i have thought about you and wondered if they were going to do anything to make up for not doing right or that it didn't work...they had an event where they were promoting the procedure and dr had said all of the procedures were successful..i thought of you and wondered how things are going..they also had a demonstration and people were impressed and some signed up for it.. Let us know if Pam and dr did anything to help you . take care,
