So, I have sinus surgery 25 years ago and since then, I have become so sensitive to smells (man made smells), that I get between 4-6 migraines a week. The best solution I have found is to avoid man made scents, if at all possible.
I have also tried almost every migraine drug on the market and feel Cambia worked the best, but, as with all the other drugs I have taken, the more I use them, the longer it takes for them to work. Cambiawas thr only one which didn't have any side effects and in the beginning completely worked 7 minutes after taking it. Now, it takes about 20.
I decided to give Botox a try (last week) and it was 4 vials and 31 mini shots in all. I felt she barely broke skin and with most of the shots, I heard a popping sound. It took less than 10 minutes.
4 days after my botox, I went to church and there was so much perfume in the air, but ironically I did not get a migraine. My ears, on the other hand felt clogged, but the pressure soon went away once we left.
The very next day, I was at an arcade and the guy running it, lit up incense. I have leaned to avoid incense like the plague, but no migrain, but both the inside of my ears felt full, and this time, it was a bit worse. It took about an hour after leaving for my ears to go back to normal.
My initial thought was thst the BOTOX was a dream come true. But on Monday, everytime I came near my desk at work, got a bad headache, when I walked away, I was fine. My co-worker asked me if it was her, and I said how could it be? I didn't smell any perfume. Well, I had to help her and as soon as I got within a foot of her, my headache soon turned into a migraine. She assured me her she had worn the same perfume for the last 10 years.
Yesterday, while gassing up my car, I got an immediate migraine from the scent of the gas.
At this point, I am not sure what is going on. Iis my body over reacting to scents that I was okay with, due to the BOTOX or did I just cross another level of sensitivity?
My doc said it works on 80% of people and may take up to 2-4 weeks for the migraines to completely stop. It may also take 2 doses to work as well. My next visit is 12 weeks after my 1st visit.
I have no muscular pain that others are experiening.
