Hello everyone! Well let me jump right into my story. Last year I was denied by United Healthcare for breast reduction surgery within a week of my consultation. At the time I was a 34DDD a year later and a cup size bigger I'm trying again. I went to my primary care doctor on 8/6/2014 and she felt a breast reduction surgery was medically needed and referred me to a plastic surgeon. On 8/20/2014 I had a very through consultation. Much more measurements, pictures, and questions were done the second time around. He even told me he could get me down to a full C/small D. I was told around a week later that my surgery would be 9/18/2014 BUT I still have not heard from the insurance company so everything is more than likely going to be pushed back. I haven't even had a pre-operative appointment. I am so anxious to hear back from insurance! What is everyone experience with United Healthcare Plus?? Also how is everyone healing from their surgery??

Tell, PS staff that you will only proceed with insurance coverage pre-approval, do not let them assume you will self-pay. It takes average a month for insurance companies to decide preapproval, so 9/18 may be bit soon. You could call your insurance Co to inquire. My only pre-op appt after first consultation was the afternoon prior to procedure. Likely you will not see your PS again until after the payment coverage by insurer pre-approval has been received.

Surgery pushed back

NoBoobsPlease
Hi guys my surgery was originally scheduled September 18 and I got a call from the PS office this morning saying it's going to be pushed back... It has been three weeks with no word from insurance.. Idk why a date was even scheduled without approval first.. Anyway so now I need to try and get back on the work schedule since I took 10 days off just in case -_________-.. Has anybody had any experience with United Healthcare Plus and breast reductions?

We had our first appointment on same day and it looks like our surgery will be a day apart..mine on 9/19. Anyway I just got my approval letter from my insurance on Friday. I think PS office finds out way before you receive snail mail. Your PS should be able to let you know if insurance approved. Good luck

Do you have United Healthcare plus as well?

Did they happen to tell you how much tissue they would remove? Do you know what the insurance will require? I'm waiting just like you! It stinks!! :) I'm not too far from you.... I'm in NC. Best of luck!! My PS told me last week that I'd know something in about 72 hours..... Biz days.... Today marked that, no word yet.....

A cup is about 200 grams.. Im going from a G to a C/D so its 600-800 grams taking out.. Whose your insurance provider? Every insurance is different.. Mine I had to prove it was medically needed so I had doctor's notes. I was also prescribed pain meds.. The plastic surgeon also took pictures so we could have documentation of how big my boobs were and the scars.
