Having had this annoying problem for years and many consults with plastic surgeons all with different approaches .I finally decided on Dr balikian and they were removed by direct excision. He remove them beautifully and I suggest this to anybody with this problem as it is said to be a hard fix but not with Dr balikian

Thank you. These things showed up in the past five years. Best money I ever spent.

Beautiful results. You look fabulous now!

Thank you. I still have small scars but they will fade. A small price to pay to rid myself of those horrible bags. I'm done with the sun...

Dr Balikian did a good job on you. You are lucky. I had a NL (bands still visible/won't last), BL (with large wound on forehead and burn on chin after surgery/talk about scars) and a FL (we agreed on a Deep Plane, got an Extended SMAS (and assistant accidentally snipped the dissolvable sutures 1st week being right ear causing it not to close, heal the same and left with a Mickey Mouse ear which he disregarded.)

Do you have some better photographs of the scars from the excision? Considering this myself once I get older and they inevitably start sagging more.

I will post a photo tomorrow for you. The scars are much better than havimg the Malar mounds.

Thanks! I agree, but it doesn't seem like any surgeon would agree with me considering I'm only 25, but they are really bad. They're more like bags than loose folds of skin in my case, so I don't know if that disqualifies me. Are the festoons completely gone now? If so, that is an amazing trade off. Are your scars any better today?

do you have scars?

Yes, barely noticeable. Getting better everyday. I'd rather have scars than Malar mounds anyway.

My festoons genetic. So many approaches don't know which one to choose. You look great!!

I understand. Took me years but I knew this is the only approach that would solve this problem.

How long was your down time? I've hated my malar edema forever
December 5, 2017
Hi Peggy... I had my surgery Aug 21, stitches out the 29th. No make up for 30 days after surgery but really no down time. You wear a flesh colored tape over scars at night for a month. I went out with the tape on...great experience. So, downtime was really surgery until stitches out. 8 days total. You won't be sorry but choose the right doctor...
