I grew up with always having a huge chest. I remember getting them in 3rd grade and thought by the time 7th grade happened, it was the "coolest thing ever". I always received a lot of attention from boys and later men. I loved it but than it started turning worse. By the time I was in college, I was well into the DDD range. After college ended, I gained a few pounds and it happened to go to my chest. I was now a 34GG by 28. Yes men paid attention to me but my back was slouching, I had gouges in my shoulders from bra straps, and bras costed $80 for one! I knew I was over being the girl nicknamed as "Jugs" in 5th grade.
With a really supportive husband, he urged me to look into the breast reduction procedure and for the first time I knew I was ready to get it. I went to a few consultations and never heard the words that I wanted to hear. I knew I wanted a smaller chest but I thought a DD would be fine. With the help of really great surgeon, Dr. Robert Frank, he told me he could go a bit smaller. I was in love with the idea of becoming a D and asked them to put it in with insurance. Lisa worked incredibly close with me and Jaime is always so on top of my appointments.
I got it approved and scheduled the surgery. I knew there were a lot of risks, getting put under, and a lot of down time. I remember going into surgery, joking around with the anesthesiologist, and waking up a few hours later in the recovery room.
I had drainage tubes on and was gauzed up. I took one Vicodin pain pill the entire time and drained the tubes at least twice a day. I did do a lot of sitting and rarely slept until later at night. I did not have a lot of pain but really hated not being able to shower for 5 days. I did take a few sponge baths but it wasn't too helpful. I remember looking down and noticing that my chest was a lot smaller.
I'm two months over the surgery, my stitches fully dissolved and the scars are slowly becoming less red. I have anchor scars but it's minor compared to feeling so much better about myself and my body. I did have a few minor hiccups of being allergic to the tape they used which caused me to blister. I also still feel a bit "hard" in my left breast because of something related indirectly to the surgery that is pretty common. I do have a few scabs that have opened up on various parts in my breasts which heal and than re-open. It's minor though and doesn't really bother me.

Good for you, thank you for sharing!
Are there any tasks you still aren't able to do because you're still healing?
I am able to do everything fully now. I was limited for the first month.
