I am a 46-year-old female from Australia. I flew to Mumbai on the 17 January for a lower face lift, fat transfers, and upper and lower eye bleph. Specifically, I was concerned with the under eye hollowing and mild jowling that had appeared recently. The total costs of these procedures was 6650 aud (this included all food and 11 day hospital stay that included all food which was ordered in from local restaurants.

Dr Sameer had ordered a number of pre-op tests and I had completed them all before I arrived in Mumbai. He also responded to all me emails in a detailed fashion almost instantaneously.

Dr Sameer did an excellent job. I had no bruising or pain, just swelling and tightness. I was giving antibiotics and intravenous pain killers for two days following the procedure. The operation took 6 to 7 hours and included the tightening of the underlying muscles (SMAS). In Australia the costs for similar procedure would be in excess of $20,000 aud.

I am still healing but the swelling in going down. My husband said the scar under my chin is invisible. The scars on my ears are also very well done and practically unnoticeable at 17 days post opp. A nurse at a local hospital I was at looked at the incisions and said Dr Sameer has done an excellent job.

Overall a very natural face lift so far …no bruising or scarring. A man I meet on the plane who I finally shared the fact that I had been to India for a face lift… said he wondered how I had children in their early 20's as I looked to young.

I am a private person and will not be posting photos but feel free to private message me and I can forward some before and after photos.

To conclude Dr Sameer is an excellent surgeon who I highly recommend

Hello Melbourne 1, My name is Marilyn, and I have just read your FL review from Dr Sameer. I am turning 65 this year and have been considering face surgery for so long but full of fear, I have had one contact with Dr Sameer but still the overwhelming fear remains. I have never been to India so there too, is the unknown. I think you are very brave and are so pleased you are happy with your outcome. I have a thin face, so jowls
and under eye hollows too. How was it flying back to Australia so soon after and how is the healing process now. How are you feeling about everything. I really have so many questions don't know where to being, I would love to see some before and after picture. I had my daughter late in my forties so still have teenager at home so this is another concern I suppose, she does not want me to have surgery, (in case something goes wrong, and says I do not need this) but this has been with me for so long, sometimes I like the reflection in the mirror but mostly I look tired and saggy, so standing on the brink asking myself all the questions that so many of us do. Any advice or information on your experience would b so greatly appreciated. All the Best Marilyn

Hi migisiy, I feel the same way as you do, I had my youngest child at 39. When I look in the mirror I look very sad and tired all the time. Which is not how I feel on the inside.
I would be traveling on my own from Toronto. I haven't spoken to Dr Sameer Karkhanis yet but after readding all the wonderful reviews I will be shortly. I already have a consultation booked in Toronto for the 19th of April which I will follow through with. The hardest part for me is resting for two weeks, as I run a farm. I'm looking to have surgery in October this year, after the farmers market season has finished.

Hi Melbourne1 I know I speak for many people on this site, thank you so much for posting your journey, this site has been invaluable to me in adding our decision making.

Hi Farmgirl9797, Just read this lovely to hear from you, I will follow your journey closely, I will probably have to wait till early next year but you never know. I feel the resting time is very important, so I would plan to stay at the recovery centre for as long as possible. Keep in touch and all the very best.

After many emails and a lovely phone chat with Dr Sameer, I've actually booked my flight and surgery. I fly from Toronto on the 8th October, 2 flights, arriving in Mumbai 11.55 pm on the 9th October. Tests on the 10th, surgery on the 11th. I fly home on the 27th of October. I'm terrified but also excited at not looking sad and tired all the time. I've added a couple more procedures to my list, vasor lipo and breast augmentation, I thought I may as well, as I don't think I would ever have the opportunity to do something for my self again. My husband of 35 years, has said I don't need anything done I'm perfect, but I think he's blinded by love. lol

Hi, farmgirl,
How are you going with the pre India date drawing closer. I am closer to making a decision your courage in making such a long journey is so inspiring. Yes, others seem to have many procedures and are happy, just be sure to give yourself lots of tender loving care and rest. The few people I have shared my wish to have surgery all say I don't need it, but I think deep down they are a little fearful for you, and the people who really care see us as who we really are rather than what one looks like. So after so much inner questioning I will be doing this for me, my droopy sad face just doesn't seem to fit. I look forward to hearing from you

I had a wonderful experience with Dr Sameer and his fabulous staff. I look 20 years younger. He's an artist. You would not be disappointed with the care you receive, I felt very special whilst I was in India. It's been a tremendous confidence boost, I now feel pretty and feminine, which I have not felt in a long time. Good Luck.

Thanks for sharing. I am really glad to know about the compliments coming your way.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. I am currently considering Dr Sameer for the same procedures you had. My biggest problem is that I can only be away for 14-16 days at the most and need to be able to return to work within a month. Were you able to do that? Also can you share with me what the after care and the after care facility were like? Thank you.

I am 64 next month and also wanting a facelift, probably early next year (March) and think your choice of surgeon was a good one. Dr Karkhanis has best reviews from patients for his work and his manner both. I have sent off an email but so far not heard back. It is a scary prospect for me. But I'm not worried about going to India as I have gone there many times over the years. Great people, great shopping, great food! What more to ask. I am Sydney based and would love to ask you some more detailed questions if I could?

I had my surgery in October 2016 with Dr Sameer, I would highly recommend him as a surgeon and his wonderful staff. If you have any question please feel free to ask me. I had a face lift and upper and lower eyes. Also breast implants. I look 20 years younger and feel very pretty and feminine which is something that I had not felt for a while.

Thank you for your reply. You have given me that extra bit of confidence. The fear was that he is not specialising in face lifts and all info people give on this site is to go to a surgeon who specialises in the procedure you want. Dr Sameer seems to do a wide variety of procedures but perhaps he is a very gifted surgeon.
Could I ask please about the accommodation post-surgery. It is quite expensive. Would you recommend staying with his accommodation regardless or finding something else close by that would be less expensive. I would definitely stay at least 14 days in his accommodation, but I will be staying one month to make sure that I'm fit to travel and not having any post-surgical issues so the accommodation bills are quite high for someone who may not need all the services after two weeks.
Is there any good accommodation nearby that you know? Or is that particular area fairly expensive anyway?
Thank you for sharing your experience!

Amazing price for all the surgery and accommodations. You must be very excited with your results. Sounds like your doctor did an outstanding job. I also had a facelift last year and I'm very happy. You can look up my profile. Good luck.
