I've waited approximately 3 weeks to write my review so I could provide my full experience for people wanting to know more. I am a 28yo white (of Italian descent) female, and since I've been a little girl I have created awful pit-stains in all my shirts and dresses. I would wear tank-tops as often as I could (even in the cold Maine winters), and a cardigan (mostly black ones) or something over that, because any shirt or dress with sleeves would just end up getting ruined from sweating so badly. And the embarrassment was a whole other problem in and of itself. So needless to say, my motivation for wanting this treatment was mostly to try and end embarrassing situations. I was told that after the first treatment I may only see about a 50-70% decrease in sweating and I would say it's about 70-75%. (but EVERY patient is different), a second treatment, depending on your comfort after the first treatment, is up to you.If you're wondering if the treatment itself is painful: During the treatment it is not. The doctor provides local anesthesia in both arm-pits which COMPLETELY numbs your pits, even sometimes down into your fingers. And that is good so you don't feel the heat that is generated. The treatment from the beginning (asking of all the questions, etc) to end was about 1.5-2 hours. They use a machine that has a hand-held piece of which has a suction at the end of it, and it sucks up your skin (in small increments) and emits a microwave radiation that destroys the sweat glands in that area. It takes about 26 seconds for each spot they suction up.Once the procedure is over, you leave with ice packs under your arms. For AT LEAST the next two days, those ice packs will be your best friend. The local anesthesia numbness will subside in a couple hours following the treatment, but you will be left with superficial numbness that should slowly begin to go away over 2-12 weeks. The next day: I felt like I had tennis balls under my arms! It felt more noticeable than it actually looked. Granted, my armpits weren't concave like normal, they were more convex, (like they were "sucked" outward) and I was uncomfortable that first day after treatment, all day. So you just ice like they tell you to and take Ibuprofen!!I would also really recommend doing this treatment when you know you don't have to work the next day or do something where you really don't want to be uncomfortable. The second day after treatment: The discomfort definitely was better, but I still iced a lot and took Ibuprofen, and the tennis ball feeling was now like golf balls. Slight bruising began to appear. The third day: things were much better. Still slightly swollen, but the discomfort was so much better.Up until today, I still have "skin" numbness on the back sides of my upper arms. For example, if I itch my arms in those areas, I can't feel it at all, but if I pinch my arms in those areas or push down with more pressure I can feel that. But they say this is normal and it has VERY SLOWLY started to go away. Results over the last 3 weeks: I now live in SC, and one day (maybe about a week after treatment), I went to an outside concert and it was wicked hot and humid. I decided to wear a white t-shirt. I danced my butt off, and didn't get sopping wet armpits! It was AWESOME. Overall, I was sweating like normal, and that is fine, and my armpits were only slightly moist, but NOTHING like they would have been prior to treatment. Ever since, i have been going around wearing a bunch of different colored t-shirts and haven't had even one major sweat stain! I have also noticed less B.O. Another "side-benefit" they told me about, was that under arm hair growth may stop of decrease. What woman wouldn't love that!?One other thing that is slowly getting better, is the "ropey" appearance in my right arm pit. It looks "ropey" or "wavy" from all the suction during treatment. But that's going away too.
The awesome results following treatment FAR OUTWEIGHS the discomfort associated with it. This is one thing I ALWAYS thought I'd just have to deal with for the rest of my life, and I was VERY lucky to know someone in training who provided it to me free of charge, (it is about $3000). Next to getting electrolysis on my eyebrows, this was definitely the most liberating thing I could of had done. Especially now that I live in such a humid environment.
Also, I strongly believe that the discomfort outweighs the use of all that anti-pers. deodorant, which never actually worked to begin with! So, I was lucky enough not to have to work the next day, but if I had, that would have been the one thing I wish I knew beforehand. I would strongly urge you not to have much going on the next day or two.Good luck! It's going to make a huge difference in your confidence and choice of clothing!
